Tell me you had bad dreams last night
'Cause you were rolling in your sleep
Tell me you hate those bright street lights
Sometimes the shadows give you the creeps

Please, close your eyes
Please, if you don't want to say
Please, close your eyes
Please, what keeps you awake

Tell me the air up here's too thin
You can't fell the wind when it moves
Tell me the stars are made of tin
And that they're banging on the roof

Please, close your eyes
Please, if you don't want to say
Please, close your eyes
Please, what keeps you awake

The sun will rise
And keep your mind at ease
So close your eyes

Please, close your eyes
Please, if you don't want to say
Please, close your eyes
Please, what keeps you awake

I’m surprised my all the nasty comments from RP listeners.  I like the song.

Old faves. I see my last post below about JLC was 14 years ago.  I believe I have the distinction of sending Cathedrals to Bill back circa 2000, and it made its way into the RP rotation. Or maybe I didn't :-)

After a long hiatus, they put out an album at the end of 2018 called Sparrow.  Cary Ann Hearst of Shovels n Rope is from Charleston, and she is a big Jump fan from her childhood.  She talked them into opening at the 2016 Highwater Festival, and that resulted in the 2018 album.

Like all Jump records, it grows on you til you find yourself listening to it frequently.  It is on Spotify, give it a whirl.

This is brutal.
Bill, come on!

Life is too short
I would close them if not for painful, whiny drivel of this truly dreadful excuse for a song. I did enjoy the end though.
"...and nobody cares, especially me, but I can't help myself, as I fall asleep, to turn out the lights (CLAP, CLAP)..." I've you've seen Jump live, you know what I'm talking about.
I'll close my eyes if you shut your yap and go away

Not even, this is boring and has no depth-unlike Annie!
Yas ! If this clown was half as good as Annie Lennox, he'd be somebody. As it is, he's pitiful.....

LOVE the band, LOVE the song, discovered them on RP and now own everything they ever recorded and have seen them twice. I never get tired of them.
Sounds like the that Annie Lennox song "No More I Love You's".... only not as good

More vocal straining. Makes my teeth ache. If this group can do better, good for them.
Straining? Ummmmm... no. One of the amazing things about Jay is how easy it appears for him to sing especially when you see him live.

All I can say is that it is an acquired taste. I hated 'Cathedrals' when I first heard it about 5 years ago, and I now think it is brilliant. Jay Clifford did a song with a side project called Rosebud called 'Changing of the Guard'. It's as fine a song as has ever been recorded, in my opinion.
Annoying.
