I’m seeming to be lit, alive
I’m happy again, calmer, calm in time
Suppose the daughter of yourself will
Be the same, but you’re a match

You're the match of cherry coal
That will burn this whole madhouse down
You’ll not throw open like the worn-out safe
More like a love that's a bottle of exquisite stuff, best

You yourself and your father
Don’t know so, but in your own ways
You're really both bonesetters
Thank you for mending me, baby

You're the match of cherry coal
That will burn this whole madhouse down
You’ll not throw open like the worn-out safe
You would seem more like being from that same bottle
Of exquisite stuff is
You are the match of cherry coal that will burn
This whole madhouse down on the floor
Open like the worn-out safe

You yourself and your father
Don’t know so, but in your own ways
You’re really both bonesetters
Thank you for mending me, baby

EVERYTHING is political.  Or think about this; Is not talking politics more important that your very freedom?
I'm shocked by the low rating: solid 8 here
dipshits out of their minds rating this a 1or2
A cheezy ABBA copy band? Awful. Read the lyrics- the description "BARFO" was invented for this....

I like the Cocteau Twins but that's not why I return. I like the music and diverse discussions including political ones from around the world. I find people who police other people's perspectives more tiresome than those who espouse opinions with which I disagree.

Perhaps a good entry point for CT - but like others have shared, there are much better tracks to be savored.
Anybody else hear, "You're the batch of cherry coke"?
Hypnotic, mesmerizing, super-addictive stuff! This has always fired all the right synapses for me. I'm so glad when I hear them on RP.
Only 6.5 average, due to the quite prominent low rating tail. Dunno why.

Love the sound of her voice but I can't understand a single work she's singing.

It's nice that the RP web site has the lyrics but unless I start from the beginning of the song I can't recognize enough to find the place in the lyrics.

this is the paradox of cocteau twins.  you read the lyrics and you say to yourself, "oh yeah, I can hear that". without them i'm lucky to pick out 10% of them correctly.

i find the cadence/tempo/whatever-you-call-it to the lyrics to be really cool.
Oh yes.

Agreed. Rome is burning but this is where we go to forget that fact for a while.

Sounds like we're about the same age :) MORE COCTEAU TWINS and NO they absolutely do not sound like ABBA. WTF??

Glad I scrolled down. COCTEAU TWINS are unique, wonderful. I DO hear *touches* of ABBA in this song. And there is no doubt whatsoever in my mind that they're perfectly aware of it. I find this salute fascinating, as is most of anything the TWINS produce. Just as a side note, I think ABBA is a fascinating band as well. Apparently, it is better if I state that it's not the SAME  fascination

grabbed my ears... thought it was Jane Siberry!  I forgot all about the Cocteau Twins, thanx for being awesome as always RP!  and taking me down memory lane.  :)
Nice to be reminded that Scotland was the epi-centre of musical creativity in the 80's. The rest of the world looked on in awe and continued to produce post-punk junk.

this song always makes me crave a magic cherry cola

Odd, yes, but beautiful.
Have always liked ABBA.
It was a mistake to check the lyrics while the song was playing, and they were being sung. Can't be undone, unfortunately. Unlucky me.
Sorry, haters. This band was amazing and seminal to multiple genres of modern music. If if this particular song doesn't sit with you, others ought.
Only 6.5 people? Come on! This started it all!

Please please do not play this song again. If not for me, for my waaaay too elborate set up that I must keep in place to tune in to the otherwise outstanding Radio Paradise.

Use the PSD if you don't like the song. You shouldn't feel compelled to go on about your "rather elaborate" or "waaaay too elborate (sic)" setup.
Wonderful, wonderful!

Love that box set of their CD singles, as well the their fantastic albums.
Many more good songs on this album past Heaven or Las Vegas.  This one is my fav.
Sounds a bit like ABBA to me... {#Smile}
Takes me back to being thrown in a metal dustbin (trashcan) aged 6, the older boys were kicking the bin and shouting insults at me, this is what it sounded like from the bottom of the bin.        Still havnt forgiven my brother for the suggestion.

You see that as a negative but I see that as amazing. This album is made up of songs that whirl, float, glide, dance, and spin. The lyrics don't make sense; you can either transform the lyrics into words that make sense to you, or you can hear her voice as a musical instrument.

love Love LOVE this song!
Imho music Cocteau Twins is very difficult for ABBA, though in ABBA is almost art-rock hits: «Eagle» for example. «Together» of NP, that ABBA, yes {#Rolleyes}

Abysmal use of vibrato.
More Cocteau Twins please!

I've never (to my knowledge) heard Cocteau Twins before, but immediately looked over to see which Abba song was playing and wondering why Abba was on RP. That said, the song isn't awful. But then neither was Abba, really.

Part of it is the double-tracking of the vocals - almost like it's been flanged in the process.
This is hitting the spot, right about now.

It is more than one track tho.  She's not Ophelia Addams weird. :)

I accept it wholeheartedly this as it is. Elizabeth Fraser has a lovely voice, no matter how she uses it, high or low. Goddess-like greatness. Cocteau Twins beauty!

I wish people would quit comparing artists with other artists, saying Abba-Like and Cure crossed with Abba, or whatever. Can't you all just hear each entity as a whole in itself?! You're not being very original yourself when you make these links, and I think you're depriving yourself, like you're on sensory overload. Relax!

That is weird, thought maybe it had been added. Its the kind of effect you'd get on a reel to reel machine that had a speed stability problem from a worn belt etc...

Too much AutoTune..

Begin with "Treasure", the best of all albums. Now, Frazer does not sing in English. She has invented a language for herself. I think the Cocteau Twins just wanna prove the obvious: one does not need to know the lyrics to like a song. One creates the song when listening to it.

Enjoy!

I thought she was singing about old dolls found in a dusty attic, and that was the treasure. . .but I heard that it's about Aurélia.
