Worst cover of a fantastic song...  I've heard a thousand myself and sung a few myself.  Just terrible.  The instruments sound reasonably good except for the terrible micing/recording of the Acoustic guitar at the outset.

I think this is going to be the case with a lot of vocal stylists who get outside a mainstream style of delivery. I enjoy this kind of styling -- it's interesting and adds nuance to the song. But then, I think Lucinda Williams and Emmylou Harris are also great stylists, and I know they're not for everyone either. That's why it's a risk, I guess. You're aiming for a higher artistic plain, but you almost inevitably alienate some listeners.

Agree 100%. Blue Horse is a terrific album. Never would've found out about these ladies if it wasn't for RP. I dig the reggae-like groove on this track. BTW, Po'Girl (other band with one of the BGT members) is also very good. Must upload some tracks from them sometime.

Heard this for the first time on a camping trip in northern Wisconsin. I thought it was a perfect song for the occasion. Then they sing Lk pontchartrain, heart melted despite the rain and cold. good album. thanks. i agree with some other listeners, this stuff can be overplayed though.
