Wipe the make-up from your face
Tie your hair and gently fall from grace
Until I come again
Take the disaffected life
Men who ran the company ran your life
You could have been his wife

I wanna love you but my hands are tied
I wanna stay here but I've been denied
Let's watch the clock until the morning sun does rise

Wipe the sweat from off your brow
All that you believe is here and now
You could have had more doubt

Wipe the shadow from your eyes
Rest your daughter while your mother cries
You could have let him fly

I wanna hold you but my hands are tied
I wanna stay here but I've been denied
I wanna lie here 'til we've killed this bitter doubt

I wanna hold you but my hands are tied
I wanna stay here but I've been denied
Let's watch the clock until the morning sun does rise

I wanna hold you but my hands are tied
I wanna sleep here but I've been denied
I wanna stay here 'til we've killed this bitter doubt

I wanna hold you but my hands are tied
I wanna sleep here but I've been denied
Let's watch the clock until the morning sun comes out

Still like these guys, and this record after so many years. Saw them ages ago in Amsterdam, nice bunch.
Turin Brakes?
Seen these chaps twice over the years. Bath and Bristol. The Bath gig was acoustic 1st half with just James playing and singing. Brilliant. Pretty much have all they  recorded. Well worth investing some of your time to listen to.  Real Manchester type vibe which us soft shandy-drinking southerners have grown to enjoy.
This sounds so much like Turin Brakes
I think he sounds like David Bowie ..spiders from Mars.
Nope. Melodramatic & dopey, repetitive refrain.
Always a PSD for me. :-(
i always hear "i wanna stay here til we've killed this pizza down"

maybe i need to go get lunch...
dear small brained one word comparison makers… Use your fucking words. This band is fantastic and are brilliant at creating a vibe.

that sounds like a medical issue...
oh my gosh! i haven't heard this in over 10 years. thank you!
Some Placebo in the singer's voice
I haven't heard this in so long. This was a great song off a great album.
The best of the 'Manchester' bands. A sod-sight more thoughtful and stands the test of time too.
Turin Brakes
Good album- wore it out in the early 2000's and didn't really get back to it. May have to rediscover it. The follow up- Silence is Easy- was actually pretty good as well, you know if you're into that obviously-Buckley-influenced kind of thing!
Good song, but can't help thinking how much better it would sound with someone else singing it.
Instant 8. Wow, even if it doesn't cover new ground.
Cool name

The singer reminds me of The Verve's Richard Ashcroft. Nice.

Sorry he gave Cranberries an 8. And this is the first time I've ever seen anybodies prior choices become part of a comment. Oh my god we're being judged!!

Except boring.

One of my favorite albums! I actually got to see them in New Orleans many years ago. Great show!
Bought this album and promptly forgot about them.
I haven't heard this song in so many years! Thanks for playing it. I absolutely love the whole album!

i agree. i'm happy to hear this again on RP. it's been a long time for me.

Reminds me of Muse.  Overall that's good for me, but their (Muse's) last album or two has been a little formulaic and pop-ish.

Just wondering about this 9-year-gap in the comments.
only discovered ss on rp. amazing voice, awesome soaring sound. ty.

Oddly that goes on very frequently in the song threads; it seems like pretty standard procedure within responses.

I'm digging this!!

Kinda JAMES thing goin; toward the end there.

Gong.....
their next album was way better
i never realized until this hearing the extent to which i dislike this song, this singer, this group in general.... blech...
I actually really like this guy's voice. Maybe it's the same reason that I really like Jeff Buckley's voice, the same timbre or something. I alway perk up when I hear one of their songs and then realize it's Starsailor.

Nice tempo and build up with a compelling melody.

darn, beat me to it.
reminds me of the Waterboys slightly.

When some of you say "too 70's", just exactly what do you mean? Disco? ;) pbm 8^)
The lead singer's glam-rock girly-man voice, maybe?

I fully understand that. No sorry. It's a fine choice. It's all about taste, you know.

yep. that's it. I couldn't place it but , like quasimodo, it was ringing a bell. I have mixed feelings about the song, though, I like it and I don't like it at the same time. a little odd.
This is the first time Starsailor catches my attention. Nice song. I don't know why you guys complain about the vocals, but hey, if David Surkamp of Pavlov's dog still has the voice he used to have, he would be perfect for singing this song.
Someone should tie up his mouth.
The more I hear this the more mesmerizing it becomes... :sunny.gif:
bleaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh

I like this song. I haven\'t heard it since college radio a few years ago, so I had forgotten it. Thanks for the reminder, RP.

A band with a lot of potential and gobs of talent, some terrific songs, and a charismatic lead singer, but I have to admit, I can only listen to a few tunes of theirs at a sitting. The singer\'s overwrought emotional vocals can be a bit much.
Please! Oh Please never play this song again. Iam begging you. Please!
This dude sounds like Maryanne Faithful
I really like this CD, too. Some damn gorgeous songs. The only complaint I would have is that they need to work on expanding their lyrics a bit. They oft get a bit repetitive.
I like this band more and more for each new song I hear. In less than a month I\'m going to get the chance to see them live - woohoo!
Is it because I\'m a child of the seventies, I like this band? Probably. But I think they are more than just an updated version of some of the things that happened then. Besides the great amount of crap, released in the seventies, some of the most inventive popmusic was put forward, that decade, IMO.
I\'ve decided I\'m not a Starsailor fan mainly because I don\'t care for the vocalist - the whiny sounds works for some, Geddy Lee (Rush), Neil Young, Plant(on occasion), but not for this guy. Maybe the Karaoke version without the vocal :D cause the music ain\'t bad....
These guys are a great new band! Good CD!
I just can\'t handle this.... Not that it\'s not good, it\'s just not my taste. Too 70\'s sounding to me. Too space-rock...
Reminds me of Billy Thorp\'s vocals (Children of the Sun--\'78ish). I like this group a lot.
Seemed like a decent song... until the vocals started.
great young band, go to their website and check them out. good souls is a great song.

I didn\'t think much of it for the first 20 seconds, but it turns out pretty well. Never heard of Starsailor before.
Please don\'t play anymore.
