I've been listening (and supporting) RP for 10 years,  maybe more; I've lost track. And this is the 1st time I've ever heard this cover.  When Jones was recording pop hits back in the day, it generally fell outside my personal interest, but I always thought he had a uniquely powerful voice. The stuff he's recorded since his pop days has increased my interest and respect for his talent. He's recorded some great stuff, including collaborating with people like Jools Holland and David Gilmore. This track is another great surprise, so thanks RP.  (I'd love to know how he got together with a Swedish band. )

We had a local radio station that would do a thing called 'Make it Stop' or something like that. They would start playing some not-so-good song and would only stop once a caller identified the song and group. I do like the original song, and I know Bill loves covers, but .......

I can.  I don't think the lead vocalist of the Cardigans is carrying her share compared to Jones - she pales next to him moreso than usual.  And Jones style seems all over the place for this song.

I can vouch for this fact, Tom Jones has some serious pipes!

Aside from the fact he was so incredibly popular in the 60's, and his was the very first 45 rpm single I ever bought with my own money at about 8 yrs old, I never paid much attention. Until  I heard his cover of Kiss by Prince. Then about 10 years ago I went to see Tom Jones "close" for Tower of Power. Holy Smokes!! Pipes for days! And a command of the stage and the audience you would be blessed to see.

FWIW, I am a Prog guy, but appreciate talent wherever it shows up.

Far, far better, by an order of magnitude, than the original from David "Teletubby" Byrne. Lots of energy, great voices, and more zip than the RKK factory. Talking Headcases might be offended by this, but I love it to bits. Tom Jones I've always liked, as he never takes himself seriously and has a really powerful voice. 8 from the Nottingham jury.
