Excuse me now I've got a call
I'll take this call from Valhalla
Please tell my friends from outer space
You are my son you'll take my place

And if the revolution comes
I've got some good friends there

Take my place after all you are my son
You take the moon and I'll take the sun
By the way if the revolution comes
Please take my rifles and take my guns
A single bullet loaded in each one

And if you don't like my melody
I'll sing it in a major key
I'll sing it very happily
Yeah, but if everybody is all aboard
Let's take it back to that minor chord

You are my son, you'll take my place
Please tell my friends from outer space
I'll take this call from Valhalla
Excuse me now I got a call

I've got some good friends there
Revolution comes
A single bullet loaded in each one
Please take my rifles and take my guns

And by the way, if the revolution comes
Take my rifles, take my guns
You take my place because you are my son

Excuse me now I'll take the sun
I'll take my place in Valhalla
And if the revolution comes
Please take my guns

Happy New Year from Italy to all RP listeners!
Frankie my bwaaaaaaaaay, this is fokin amoazin..... hell yeah
Seen the pixies and FB several times - great performer, great band, great music… love it
All the naysayers here should have a party, and drive out their guests (who has unwanted guests, anyway?) with their bad coffee, light beer and cheap wine.  The rest of us will wait for the St. Francis Dam Disaster, and clean out their cupboards of the finest goods whilest smiling contently!

You like a range of music? I was going to say a wide range of music, but in the big world of music, there's really not much distance between Frank and DM. (I'm not suggesting that's your limits. You're listening to RP!) I love that RP shows us a bit of the wider world occassionally.

That is freaking GREAT!

You got a chub because he mentioned guns?

I keep cheap light beer in the fridge and a can of nasty coffee for that purpose! ...and break out the good stuff  after they leave!

Me too, but only the unwanted ones. Wheat from chaff and all that.
Lovin' this
this is just a test, right?
to make sure we're still listening?

Those may be the lyrics that garnered an 8 rating from me...that and the way he talks to the drummer....I like that shit....Long Live RP!!

A very Pixie-esque song!  Frank Black (and Kim Deal, too!) are both awesome, awesome musicians!!  I'm diggin' on the pic, Bill!
I hate the Pixies, this was worse.
What a piece of crap song. Ugh.... Let me know when its over.

Hell, find a way to shoot the whole damn band.  This is bad, bad, bad.

It would only bounce off.

If you guys think this is grating, you'll hate "I Need Peace." It's brilliant! The guy is a vastly underrated genius. He can write a tune to beat the band!

"You are my son, you'll take my place, you take my gun." That is religion in a distilled spare view...naked truth and death is nearby. So thanks FB - the mirror and the damage done
Vastly underrated.

"Hey man, how's it goin?" "Good yourself?" "Not bad." "Hey, I wonder if this thing is recording yet?" "Hmm, that little light is on." "haha... oh crap, we'd better play something then."
Shoot me now. Please.
Apparently I'm in the minority. I find this grating.

Agreed. Diggin' this.
Go Frankie!
I swear, at the beginning I thought this was Tones on Tails' "Twist."
Love those chord changes! Happy & melancholy all at once.

Not to be picky (pixie?)... didn't Kim Deal migrate to the Breeders, while Frank Black retired for a spell? ergo: the pixies > > the breeders > frank black I could be wrong. (not like *that's* ever happened before) EDIT: Looks like he didn't exactly retire. (click here). quixotic wrote:

Yeah, I put my headphones back on in the middle of this song and thought it was the Doors at first.
Frank Black is growing on me.
His voice reminds me of Jonathan Richman's on this song......

Hm, i liked Frank Black better when he was directing the orchestra on the Jack Benny show. Back then, the man had great comic timing.

That's why it's so familiar. Thanks for the context. And I like it!
Frank is King... :crown.gif:
The joke has come upon me...
Sorry. Frank who ever he is has too many names, too many bands. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

Wrong. Pixies were amazing so was/is Frank Black. Check out his album Teenager of the year! Absolutely fantastic.
Starts out sounding a lot like Jim Morrison.

It's not really fair to put FB's solo/Catholic stuff against the Pixies. The Pixies were part of a musical undercurrent that was partly due to the time period.
