Yeah, now don't touch the knobs
Cause I think we're gonna
Have some with this one here

Oh, yeah
You got to give it to me
You got to give it to me
You got to give it to me
You got to give it to me

You're so slick, honey
Know every trick now
You know I want it
I want it so bad
You know I need it
I can't believe it
So come on baby
Please relieve it

Got to give it to me
You got to give it to me
Got to give it to me
You got to give it to me

You've been bugging me
Every night now
You say you want it
You want it right now
I can't get through it
And I can't get to it
So come on, baby, please

Got to get it up (get it up)
Come on, you got to
Get it up (get it up)
You got to get it up (get it up)
Babe, you got to give it to me
(Give it to me)
You got to give it to me
(Give it to me)
You got to give it to me
(Give it to me)
You got to give it to me
(Give it to me)

Why keep me cold
When it's so warm inside
Come on, baby, your love
Is too good to hide
Woah, yeah

I was thinking along the lines of 10 CC's Dreadlock Holiday which BillG spins here too.  I've rated this J.Geils track 8 which makes the 10 CC song an 8.4.  Long Live RP!!

Keeping in mind that this song preceded "Dreadlock Holiday" by about 5 years.
Earlier, Blow Your Face Out era J Geils, would be nice to hear

I AGREE!!!  I will listen to it in it's entirety, on the Rock Mix.  But I would NOT rate it above 6!!! ...I don't want it on my Favorites List!!!

This is psychedelic ska-countrybluesrock-early&late new age. Of course.

Both guns are out and she's got the groove!
Dig those crazy bell bottom pants on the cover.

My first concert at the san diego sports arena...some guy named peter frampton with his band camel opened the show...1972?
smoked my first joint listening to this band at Schaefer Stadium. The joint was better than the band but it was an interesting evening.

Just when I thought it might be wearing thin, she took it to the bridge. Have they even seen the bridge? Has anybody seen the bridge?

I just up'd my 8 to a 9.  I forgot just how awesome this song was and just added it to my reggae playlist. Hot damn.

By downvoting all  GIF since they are an annoying distraction.

Best part is the part after the lyrics end, featuring harmonica, and other solos. OMG. Anybody know if J. Geils Band ever made something more out of that bit?

Cats. You're welcome.

Saw them in HOTlanta at the Fox Theater in...hmmm...1978? The Fabulous Poodles open and the sound kinda sucked. The Fox was supposed to have great sound....then J. Geils came on...and WOW...what a great sounding show.
The Percussion on this song is much more enjoyable (to me) than I remembered.
Any Band with a sax player named 'Magic Dick' gets atleast a 9!
J.  Geils was my neighbor in Tulsa between 1994 -1999 when I moved. Real chill guy.
Irresistible chair dancing!!!
Most underrated. Their stuff pre-Centerfold was R&R at its best. HOF now please.

I think it might just be a case of stickupmyass syndrome. Or they may not be Beyonce fans?
Saw these guys live several times. Once they opened for BB KING at a local college. GREAT shows always.

I saw the J. Geils Band in an after-hours show at Bookies in Detroit back in 1983 or 84. They had played four straight nights at Pine Knob. Their contract said they could play no other shows in Detroit, so they played as Jimmy and the Juke Joints. No more than 100 people in the place. I walked out at 2 a.m. with my ears ringing and a smile on my face.
Probably happened before but I am a relatively new listener - this following Sly's Dance To The Music was sheer genius Bill!

If I knew you better I'd comment about how a 6:09 tune would be your sex track; since I don't know you well enough, I'll just laugh at my attempt at humor and keep on bopping...LLRP!! ;-)
hey gyp;

give it to me;

horizontal bop;

don't hear those songs much

they might make a good middle for a playlist for my new date tonight

...or, is that far to blatant?  ...or, will the humor be appreciated

...or would adding "Big 10 Inch Record", somewhere, kick it into jocularity?

Initial influences included James Cotton and Little Walter

Cool, got to see Mr. Cotton three times in Florida in the 80s, so good.
I had no idea this was J. Geils. How is that possible...

On vinyl, this album was a transparent bloodshot red. Very funky on the turntable. And this single didn't have the long play out at the end, they just repeated the first few verses and faded out.

I don't tend to acknowledge critical assessments here, but this opinion hits the mark. Maybe it has to do with the adulation people in New England have for mediocre bands that somehow mean a lot to those who grew up in that atmosphere. As a relatively frequent visitor there, I repeatedly recognize that there is a love for local bands that really don't rise that much above background. Some of which pretty much never leave their backyards. This is likely true many other places, but the Boston area seems especially prone to this tendency. Sure, I am over-generalizing; so sue me!

This makes me think: how could hybrid transhumans in 2063 criticize Rihanna or Adele? "They still needed human singers, and humans to write and record what they called songs, and cameras to shoot videos of other humans on a 2D thing called youtube, and even radios to use their ears... Ridiculously stupid and exhilaratingly limited, but relatively interesting from a historical point of view".

Thank you CHOM-FM (Montréal) for playing so much J. Geils Band back in the day.
Love it ! Album: Bloodshot Released: 1973 !
So long, J.G.  Your hot little bar band smoked along off and on for almost 50 years.

Try Peter's new solo album, A Cure For Loneliness,  lots of good songs on there reflecting on his life and career and nothing about getting it up.
Not much substance there.
Saw them once back in '77 at the old Academy of Music in NYC.  They literally rocked the balcony!
Saw J. Geils play with the Stones in the L.A. Coliseum in 1981. In my opinion, J. Geils stole the show.

It didn't have to improve. It's always been a great tune.

You can feel your brain cells dying in agony when you listen to this.
....gotta love the fade
Saw Peter Wolf at the Lockn Festival last weekend.  This track was, of course, in the playlist along with a bluegrass version of Love Stinks that was excellent.

He's still got it and he has a new disc just out.
I hated this song when it came out.

This song was an 8, the a bongo solo happened. Strong 9.

I was a huge J. Geils fan back in the college days.  My best friend had a limited pressing of this album that was red vinyl.  And of course we saw them in concert every chance we got.  They were the ultimate house rocking party band before they became famous on MTV.
Funky {#Dancingbanana} 7 -> 8
J Geils...ALWAYS!
classic............. very
wow{#Notworthy}
I saw Geils play at the old Boston Garden back in "73". Great time...

Saw JGB at the Auditorium Theater in Chicaga 1973 and they rocked it. Full House live album is a great audio representation of what they were like.
