Great old song by a great old band that was way ahead of its time... Really strikes me on this listen how I hear echoes of this in XTC's work, "Senses...," 15 years later.

...cept it was recorded in LA at Sunset Sound the same year label mates The Doors were there. So were Buffalo Springfield.   Brian Wilson worked on "Good Vibrations" there in '67 as well.

Might I suggest the far more rocking recording of this Album with Arthur Lee singing with an kick arse band. I think it's Arthur Lee live at Albert Hall. Beautiful, loud & modern sound.. Shortly before the poor fellow expired.

Kinda good that this was played juxtaposed/after Godless by The Dandy Warhols. It was like traveling back in time to some serious crappy music times in a galaxy far far away. Never forget!

Another RP first for moi. 
If I was listening, and didn't see Love, I'd guess The Who or early Pink Floyd.
The 1967 Year of the Breakout: most acts distinctive, many sounding similar.

This piqued my ears but I only gave it a 7 because I have a feeling it's yet another that I'll enjoy hearing a few times and then tire of. When first I began listening to RP, it never crossed my mind that this would ever happen. But a decade (and hundreds of songs) in, now I think I know which ones will flame out for me after a few years. Amazingly, Bill & Rebecca seem to have a better sense of what I'll ultimately find endearing than I do!

I think that there is really great song hiding here, but the recording quality is really crappy and flat, to the point where the whole thing has turned to mush.  The intro would sound a LOT like the moody blues if it were just recorded better. 

a perfect opportunity for some talented young fresh band to awesomely cover with the benefit of modern technology!

i gave it an 8 because it still has great potential...

There are some great Love tracks from wayback when. This isn't that terrific, I'm afraid. Check out You Set the Scene, Alone Again Or, or Seven & Seven Is to get a better feel for who this group was. Their leader, Arthur Lee, is worth looking into for any rock historian. To quote the Wikipedia entry, "There are some who say that Hendrix 'borrowed' his outlandish dress style directly from Lee."

I had the privilege to see Arthur Lee with full string section perform this album in the intimate Village, Dublin. One of the great acoustic albums of our time. Thanks Bill.

This is decent, generic psychedelia done well. I gave it an 8 because I like late 60s psychedelia. The other two ratings prior to mine are a 1 and a 10. Okay, people....get your heads out of your arses. Clearly, this is neither among the very best or the very worst songs you've ever heard, so get off it and learn how to rate honestly and maturely.

Sheesh, I expect more out of RP listeners.
