Pussyfooting setting Sun
Make a wish that weighs a tonne
There are no handles for you to hold
And no understanding where it goes

Jealousy in Technicolor
Fear by name than love by numbers
Street lamp amber wanderlust
Powder in a blunderbus

She looks as if she's blowing a kiss at me
And suddenly the sky is a scissor
Sitting on the floor with a tambourine
Crushing up a bundle of love
Don't take it so personally
You're not the only one
That time's got it in for, honey
That's where you're wrong

All the old flames fastened on
Make a wish that weighs a tonne
There are no handles you can hold
And no understanding where it goes

She looks as if she's blowing a kiss at me
And suddenly the sky is a scissor
Sitting on the floor with a tambourine
Crushing up a bundle of love
Don't take it so personally
You're not the only one
That time's got it in for, honey
That's where you're wrong
That's where you're wrong
That's where you're wrong
Oh, oh

Hah! I just saw the previous posts posing the same question.

I always think this is going to be 'Bring On The Dancing Horses', just for the first couple of bars. Don't get me wrong, i like the Arctics, but i'm always a smidge disappointed when it isn't....
Agreed, I must have heard this about 20 times on Radio Paradise thinking this was Echo & The Bunnymen.  Not sure if this is a tribute song or accidental, but this is a rather good impression.
Alex Turner..  Yum yum.

yeah and a little psychedelic furs in there, too...
sound a little like kitchen of distinction to me

agree, Colorado John.  i love this and Favourite Worst Nightmare and Suck it and See...but their recent stuff lacks the energy of their youth.
Smiiiile like you mean it.....

Fun Fact: Nancy Pelosi was consulted on the album title.

Good tune!
I love how the intro is impeccably brill, then come the great, catchy vocals, and my God, those chiming guitars just slay me and I love it!

Are you describing what White culture appropriates from Black culture?
 aonley wrote:

Derivative.  The easy way of saying that someone's music has been influenced by someone that came before them.  Yet stating it in a way that is supposed to be negative as the commenter is the arbiter of musical taste.  Well, what musicians haven't been influenced by another?

Me too... I was just listening to E&TB in the car a couple of days ago...

I don't hear that. I think these guys have a unique sound that I really like, especially the singer's voice, and general sense of humor and sarcasm.

Yep, I hear even more of that than the other comparisons here. Of course, it isn't easy to be truly unique, few bands are, but this sounds almost like a FoS tribute band.

Seriously: it's not as if Ian McCulloch and Will Sergeant patented the band's sound. And if you can't distinguish an Arctic Monkeys song from an ETB one, you're not listening that closely.

Hear hear kcar ......... personally, the only thing I can hear that is remotely "echoish" is the twang in "The Cutter".
But given I write this during a viral attack (Trump) and Covid-19 (real but less dangerous virus) I'm happy to let these types of squabbles pan out with nothing more than a wry smile. God bless you all - by whichever god to whom it is you pray.
Blow me, could have sworn this was The Wedding Present. Really like this track.
I have this album and like it but whenever this song comes on I think it's Bring On the Dancing Horses so hey I'm not alone.
reminds me of the Killers "All these things that I've done"
Just introduced Radio Paradise to this amazing girl that I've just met in Sagres.
Here´s the best radio station.

Upon this tune hitting my ears me thinketh ….It's safe to say that the guys in Artic Monkey listened to a bit of Echo and the Bunnymen!

Arctic Echo and the Monkeymen - maybe the two bands merged like franz ferdinand and Sparks did for a while (FFS)

I've just listened to a couple of tracks from that effort. I was a bit of a fan of Sparks in the early '70's and even saw them live twice. This newish collaboration is my definition of junk. Sorry, fans, but I don't get the attraction.

On the other hand, I'd like to hear the other collaboration idea...

A most interesting album title.

All you Stanley Kubrick fans: this was one of the two lewd (what else?) graffiti thought balloons scrawled on the wall of the trashed apartment building lobby where Alex confronts his waiting droogie pals in A Clockwork Orange.
Namely, Suck It and See. And: If it moves, kiss it.

Yeah, I'm a Kubrick fan. Who else might make the connection?

Great version of "Come Together" they did for the Olympic opening ceremony.

Just saw these guys open for the Black Keys.  I was really excited to see them and took my seat right before they started.  The were great but so friggin loud I had to leave the pavilion after a couple of songs.  I wish they wouldn't out do the band with loudness.  If they sucked, I could see it just to get people's attention.  But they are great.  Do they really have to do that?  The Black keys weren't that loud.
All that and shades of Stone Roses?

Does anyone else picture these guys playing this tune...   ?
New Order vs Echo and the Bunnymen Death Match! (I still like it)
While good - this is such a BLATANT Echo & The Bunnymen rip off, I can't get beyond it, every time I hear the song.  There are 20 Bunnymen tunes I'd play over this any day.  I suppose the younger generation has never heard of The Bunnymen so think this sounds great?!....

When I first heard this line I thought they sang "sizzle" and not "scissor".  I just now looked it up.  I really loved my first impression of the line - I was going to hail it as one of the great all time song verses.   Oh well.
Bill - Love the improved website and you are playing some terrific music this evening!  Thank You!!

Echo & The Bunnymen meets Lloyd Cole, has to be good : )
These guys continually amaze and surprise me...quite a startlingly bright guitar sound they have, and the vocal stylings are brilliant, too!
I think they have a few more songs...

That's what I noticed too!

Gotta love that album title. Aside from its general, direct and crude reference, and whatever the Monkeys want it to impart, all you film trivia (specifically, Kubrick) fans, might like to know that this is one of two graffiti phrases on a wall of the prison-like housing project where Alex confronts his Droogie friends before they go out rapin' and beatin'. The other one: If it moves, kiss it.
The first song of these guys I have liked since the first 2 albums that were so massive they made my disappointment in the 3rd and 4th album equally so.  This one is a definite exception though even if I did think it was a bit more republic tigers than arctic monkeys.

This band reminds me of 80's brit bands like Bunnymen or like Hoodoo Gurus.  What flavor do you think this lollipop is?

NO. That's the problem! trissi wrote:
