I can see it on the road ahead
Running hard, I'm here
But I could be there instead

Many houses with the lights on
Silhouettes behind the shades beside fires
I'm sure that I saw you in one

I loved you but that was way back then
Now I'm alone outside and I face the wind
The rain washes me thin

Knocked me down and I got back up
And I got myself back in the race again
Knock me down and I'll get back up
And I'll get myself back in the race again

Race through the shadows, race against stone
The sunken city that I thought was my own
Might be in a brave new world but it's really not my home

Roll over, fall in; "My god", I screamed
They might catch them, but they won't catch me
I'm out here clean and I'm free; yes, I'm free

Knocked me down and I got back up
And I got myself back in the race again
Knock me down and I'll get back up
And I'll get myself back in the race again.

Yes. Sad that one song defines a band and commercial radio hangs on to it for dear life.

Big League is also a powerful song and it took me years to realize that it (the lyrics) were a real heart breaker.
wow cool song!

How is it Tom Cochrane and Red Rider haven't been played on RP before now?

They are awesome. One of the 80s best bands.

Lunatic Fringe has gotten play in the past. I can't recall if Life Is A Highway ever has

Nice to hear this! Thanks Bill. Remindes me of Jr. Highschool and early Mtv days!
Road trip across the prairies back in the day -  listening to Boy Inside The Man on his 1989 Symphony Sessions album.  Magic.

Once again, BillG reads my mind, or perhaps more accurately, "coincidentally" follows my random musical excursions... Just a  couple of weeks ago, I went down a YouTube rathole, and before long, found myself digging through some old Red Rider albums, ones I haven't heard in ages, including this one. I had forgotten a lot of their material, but there is some decent stuff in their catalog, beyond just Lunatic Fringe.  And what do you know, this turns up in the rotation not long after! Thanks again, RP, for bringing forth some deeper tracks as you so often do... side note, saw them open for Pat Benatar, back in 83, I think it was. Solid show!
