Well, I dreamed I saw the knights
In armor coming,
Saying something about a queen.
There were peasants singing and
Drummers drumming
And the archer split the tree.
There was a fanfare blowing
To the sun
That was floating on the breeze.
Look at Mother Nature on the run
In the nineteen seventies.
Look at Mother Nature on the run
In the nineteen seventies.

I was lying in a burned out basement
With the full moon in my eyes.
I was hoping for replacement
When the sun burst thru the sky.
There was a band playing in my head
And I felt like getting high.
I was thinking about what a
Friend had said
I was hoping it was a lie.
Thinking about what a
Friend had said
I was hoping it was a lie.

Well, I dreamed I saw the silver
Space ships flying
In the yellow haze of the sun,
There were children crying
And colors flying
All around the chosen ones.
All in a dream, all in a dream
The loading had begun.
They were flying Mother Nature's
Silver seed to a new home in the sun.
Flying Mother Nature's
Silver seed to a new home.

Yet another cover in RP!!.  Much prefer original
zzzzzzz.....
Nope.

no need for this
So much better than the original, although credit to the original writer.

One of the greatest things about hearing a great cover like this, is that it isolates the songwriting from the original performance.   This reminds us what an outstanding songwriter Neil Young is.

Damn, there are some sour notes in there. Neil has plenty himself, but that's kind of his brand, and I think his sandpaper voice works way better for this song.

Her voice has a Ella F. purity and smoothness to it.   She should get tons more accolades  for it, but doesn't.

I think it's due to her material.

i agree. i love her voice. but, not with this song.

so many songs she does she turns to lullabys. sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes it isn't.
I like the song... but...

So many other ways to consider this performance other than KD Lang  vs Neil Young.  Hymns of the 49th Parallel is a clue.  It's an homage to great Canadian songs and song writers. Canada still claims Neil  Young and KD Lang brings to our attention what a great writer he is on either side of the border (The 49th  Parallel).  And as we're currently just a few weeks past the unmanned Orion mission around the moon preparing  for a future landing and a "permanent" base on Earth's Moon the song itself is a reminder of aspirations made real when humans first went to the moon in the early 1970's.  Neil might have speculated then about our destiny as a species. Time has only given us a lot more to unpack from the lyrics.  I expect there will be more meaning  to find  as Mars become the next step  toward moving "silver seeds" to a new home.   Pretty cosmic, Eh?
Decent.
You can't argue with the quality of her voice, but to me this is just too pretty.

Nice cover.
I'm in the "drained of all emotion" camp, although I don't dispute the beauty of k.d. lang's version. (How can one?) Neil Young's voice has a combination of fragility and wistfulness that works with the lyrics.
I'm in the camp that this is a good cover.

There's some comments about it lacking emotion, but frankly Neil Young's lyrics have never seemed to evoke anything important.  The whole song just is just a stream of random imagery, like a dream.  The only emotion is melancholia, and K.D. Lang does nail that.
One of the best Neil Young covers I've heard in a good long while.

Totally captures the spirit of the original, and oh man, what a stunning voice.
No crazy theatrics, just a solid, staggeringly beautiful haunting sound.

No.
9 bump to 10. Hey Bill - we need an 11 here!
Great version of this song, had heard the one that dolly, emmylou and linda did quite a few year’s ago?that was a sweet version too
Do I hear a little bit of  "Let it be"?

Glad it's not just me then.  Dreary is the word that comes to mind for me, whereas in Neil's version he comes across as truly 'pained'.

I'm going to agree. I think Neil sings this with more emotion.  KD Lang's voice is beautiful, but it doesn't work for this song.
Then again, i generally don't like covers, so maybe i'm just biased.

Beautiful cover.  Almost like a different song. Young would be flattered.

He's still around.

This woman can sing no wrong, no matter who she is covering.
I think that covers are almost always unnecessary, better to play the original.
A good cover - however the original is still one of NY's most beautiful  songs with lyrics that have more meaning in the 2020's than it n the 1970's

I adore Neils original of this but hearing a version, from someone who can actually sing, is spectacular!

Neil can sing, oh heck can he sing!

Not to bash this version which is good, but the original captures and delivers the emotion much better IMHO

Update " Look at Mother Nature STILL on the Run in the 2020's"

Ha - written 3 months ago, Cold Miser.  I have been cheered by the fact that the last 3 months of lockdown have shown us that -- if the human race dies out because of some epidemic, or sump'n -- it will take Mother Nature, bless her, about 6 months to take over again, completely. Thank Goodness.
I love a lot of kd's music and think she has one of the most beautiful voice's in music, but this song just falls flat for me.
I love her voice! ...I love her version of "Black Coffee"!

Neil is a great singer, his voice is just unique.
Brought tears to my eyes. A solid 10

I think this is my favourite Neil Young song. This is a great version.
The original by Neil Young makes me shudder, at points.  I enjoy this a great deal.

"Look at Mother Nature on the run

Fifty years later - truer still.
A great cover beautifully performed.

heh?  I'm certainly hearing different!  Not good at all.  Sorry, I can never hear the k.d. that others hear.  I'm missing something with her I guess.
Great album, great track but not the best from the album. Just wish she’d do another one covering Canadian song writers. So  much better than her own material.
Really suits her voice
Beautiful cover.  Almost like a different song. Young would be flattered.
wonderful!!
ouch! (for the rendition that is; GREAT song!)
