Good on him. Do you know that ultra-conservative PM Harper apologized but left unfinished the protocol of doing it in Parliament? Btw, do you even know the difference between a Sikh and a Muslim? Do you know that Canada's Minister of Defence served in the Canadian Armed Forces in Bosnia and Afghanistan? "He was the best single Canadian intelligence asset in theatre, and his hard work, personal bravery, and dogged determination undoubtedly saved a multitude of coalition lives," said Brig.-Gen. David Fraser in a letter to the Vancouver police. "Through his courage and dedication, Major Sajjan has singlehandedly changed the face of intelligence gathering and analysis in Afghanistan." Drives me crazy, and I'm not Sikh or Muslim. c.

But frankly are we any different from our Amerikan cousins?
PM Justin Trudeau's wife was quoted in an interview with Le Soleil wondering if she could use more staff assistance as she was feeling a little overwhelmed with family duties and state-related duties. They have 3 small children.
As y'all know, the official Head of State is the Queen of England and her representative is an appointed Governor General. In reality, the prime minister and often the spouse play a Head of State of role. It should not be that way. It is.
As y'all might already know, the Justin/Sophie couple are the current "it" couple and are extremely popular both inside and outside the country. Take the charisma of the former prime minister Trudeau senior and throw in some major good looks. She is very much in demand for public events organized by charities and other similar public-minded groups.
I fully understand Sophie's lament. Politics and public functions can be a time consuming grind. Rewarding, yes, but energy draining and exhausting. Her remarks were met with all kinds of negativity across the country and by several members of the opposition parties (Conservative and NDP). Unbelievable. Uneducated single mothers were saying that they 'deserved' help too. Others were suggesting that given their family money, the Trudeaus should pay for the extra help themselves.
My respect for the Conservatives was already at basement floor levels; it went lower. The perennially envious NDPers lost even more respect (the NDP just turfed the best, the very best leader they have ever had in their history to the curb).
So my American friends, don't despair when it appears that people with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder are running your country. The same occurs elsewhere.
End of lament/rant. Peace out. -w
