I've never had the chance to see them but California friends who saw them recently for the umpteenth time all agree they're a live act to not miss. That the studio recordings just aren't the same.

I/we had never heard Calexico before, until hearing a few of their tunes on Radio Paradise. And we even live on Az part time! Saw them Friday night at a great downtown Phoenix venue The Van Buren. The range of instrumental sounds, musicianship and vocals that were coming from the 7 man group was unlike any other I/we have experienced live in a very long time. We were clearly visitors on the planet Calexico, everyone in the audience had the dance moves, happy clapping and genre variety appreciation on autopilot. If you haven't listened or experienced this band...do yourself a big favor! Thank you RP for giving light to music we have never experienced. RP has singe-handedly rescued our burned out classic rock souls!
