I have a kind of kludgy CarPlay working in my 2020 Subaru via a USB/C connection I told you about before. Not fully CarPlay functional (channel scrolling for instance) but I get album art etc. I bought an iPhone mount that allows me to see the app channel screen & scroll from there. A compromise until the new app is out. Pretty nifty actually. If you want more info, hit me up in the real world.

While this is sure good to know for all the newcomers it would be even better for them to have a mailbox sorta thing to make it easier for them, not harder. The form of this listener-forum always has been a non-starter as topics race or flow by, depending on the number of postings made. Moving on from a past, Journals were discontinued. A forum, uhm. Yes was kept.

I'd gladly be your AI assistant on such things. Offering my advice for free here.

No structure, no visible aid. Only an apocryph search function......... which isn't exactly a

What-can-we-do-for-you—mailbox, or website button
while subsisting on donations as it seems.

What's going on Bill?

Helpless, helpless, he-helpless..?

There have been responses, but not in any organized fashion. Part of that is due to the fact that posts on this subject are scattered across a dozen different topics. It's very helpful to post bug reports in the bug reports topic rather than starting a new topic for your specific complaint.

Our developer is working on a new update that should address all of the major issues — including CarPlay.

I'd like to apologize for our decision to release the new app prematurely. I regret that very much.

What is their response? How difficult could it be to restore the old app?

This goes beyond pissing off a handful of supporters. I can't recommend Radio Paradise to anyone until they get this sorted out. It looks like they have a whole office full of people running the show now, with predictable results.

I can't install the old version.

Would you be so kind as to post download links for the 8.x versions (iOS & Android) from one of your servers please?

I remember Jarro did something similar many years ago by providing download-links of an older iOS & Android app version. It took place around the shift from the legacy-website to the current design.

Keeping app-versions to download could be some kind of customer-service & care, for the future at least, if I were you. Easily done on any webserver...

I support his. Having the old app for android back would be so nice! Please Wiliam, help us enjoy Radio paradise as it is meant to be!

I am afraid that your blind faith in the management at RP is not well supported by our collective recent experience. No-one called for the app to be replaced- as far as I was personally concerned it met its purpose really well. No-one called for the AirPlay functionality to be removed either, but both of these changes were foisted on us all, and the replacement app falls vastly short of the old app in functionality, usability, and aesthetics. That experience doesn’t contribute to confidence in the management, hence the outcry.

Conversely to your claim that it’s “not all about you” (meaning the people who are upset about these arbitrarily applied retrograde changes), it’s not all about you either. You can accept the changes and be happy about them if you want, but don’t try and take away other people’s right to be upset about them. People who are complaining may only be speaking for themselves, but that point is not sufficient to be able to claim that others don’t also hold the same view.

Yes, please make this a priority, and it would be highly preferable to make the old version available until you can fix it.

Issues I have discovered so far:
-The app logs me out all the time, so I can't rate anything, etc.
-Even when logged in, it's difficult to rate songs (or even see my previous ratings) when driving.
-Downloaded cache doesn't auto-refresh when used up.
-Downloaded cache starts over from the beginning when playback stops for any reason, even if I take care to keep the app open until I want to start playing it again.
-It's not easy to navigate to the cache and play it. Why not make that the default, if I select a channel? Or at least make it really easy to choose?
-I understand you think CarPlay is a bad idea, but I'm obviously not the only one here who uses RP while driving. What about this compromise: an option to keep the app open/phone awake, especially if plugged into a charger?

I support RP and I don't want to give up on it, but this new app needs a lot of work until it will be anywhere near as useful as the old one, especially in the car.

Good question!
Is Radio Paradise a global good?
Or is it just a family or single person good?

I dare not answer.
God can disintegrate his creation at any time he finds fit.
So can Bill.

But how can we get the old app back? My android devices are all on the new versions and it is so ugly and stripped!
Can you restore the old app to the Play store please!
