We're pretty disaster proof. We can be completely independent (with internet)  for a couple of days. With diesel supply we can run indefinitely... as long as we can pay for the diesel - we burn around 400 gallons an hour to support everything.  Our utility is pretty good though and we have multiple feeds from different substations. Also, we share a grid with a lot of other critical and city services, So we'll be back up soon if something goes down.

There is no such thing as a gnome safe room. Honestly it would be easier to make a meteor shield.

That would be very cool. Are you able to keep your internet up?  During Katrina, I followed a web-hosting company who broadcast live 24/7 through the storm and the aftermath.  It was pretty fascinating and probably useful to people who needed to know what was going on.  Not to mention great for convincing their clients about reliability.

ETA: but do you have a gnome safe-room?

In our prep/review this morning we did discuss making a public phone charging station in our lobby. You have an invite to inside - we have a coffee machine too.

Or put a floaty on his neck and cast him into the sea.... then call the coast guard and report a hazard to navigation.

BHD - just a Keurig, I'm thinking about a fancy machine, but I'm still stingy.

Yeah, I know - we've been prepping all week. Bet we have a new grid connection provisioned at work and all emergency systems are tuned and ready.

Oh, and hang on to your hat! We're in for another blow. Then maybe a third one on Thursday.
