Odd standings so far this season - the Blue Jays (2 games over .500) are in last place in their division - with the same record as the Twins who are in first place in their division.

The Giants sure picked the right season for a slow start

It has been an unfortunate start to the Giants' season, but thanks to lackluster play throughout the division, they're still in the race.

Left haded pitcher had the better chance at fielding that ball. Catcher blew it (in my opinion).

And throwing to first. And the pitcher got to the ball. But everyone's got such tunnel vision at that point. Perfect into the eighth!

This 2022 article lists 58 games that were perfect after 6, all coming since the last perfect game, Felix Hernandez, 2012.  Many of them were WAY more heartbreaking too.

That's too bad.  What an odd way for it to end.  The catcher probably felt terrible about it.

Madison Bumgarner: 33 years old and DFA. As the article says, the Giants need someone who can hit left-handed pitching.

Got to get  rid of Bloom and the no brain ownership.

I think I read that he'd played shortstop for a bit in high school. Which is pretty much saying the same thing as you wrote.

I don't quite understand what Bloom and the ownership are doing. I think they're trying to have a largely home-grown team so they're waiting for their minor league stars to develop in the next few seasons. Someone should remind them that Boston fans don't pay for mediocrity. They also have the Bruins and Celtics to follow (and maybe the Pats if Belichick wakes up/drafts well).

Gene, this team's gonna fall apart like a cheap suit. Bobby Dalbec at shortstop? Granted it's still early days but there are just too many questions about iffy players.

We'll see. It'g gonna take a lot for me to get excited about the Sox in '23.

(currently 8 9-3 over Boston in the 7th inning of game 13) Outscoring opponents 100 101-30 right now. +65 +71 run differential is the highest in history. This team is ridiculous!

I was going to say that it might keep going, facing the last place Red Sox, but it's early season and Boston's going to play like it's a playoff game to avoid being *that* team.

I'll be in Southern California when the Rays are playing the Padres... I was hoping to play it by ear and see an Angels game that Shohei is pitching, but failing that, might have to venture down to San Diego...
