Some people wind up
With the one that they adore
In a heart-shaped hotel room
It's what a heart is for
The bubble floats so madly
Will it stay sky-high?
Hello partner, kiss your name bye-bye
Ooh sometimes
Romantic Piscean seeks angel in disguise
Chinese-speaking girlfriend, big brown eyes
Liverpudlian lady, sophisticated male
Hello partner, tell me love can't fail
And it's you and me in the summertime
We'll be hand-in-hand down in the park
With a squeeze and a sigh
And that twinkle in your eye
And all the sunshine banishes the dark...
Some people wind up
With the one that they abhor
In a distant hell-hole room
This third World War
But all I see is films where a colourless despair
Meant angry young men with immaculate hair
Ooh sometimes
"Get up" a voice inside says
"There's no time for looking down
Only a Pound a word
And you're talking to the town"
And how do you coin the phrase though
That will set your soul apart
Just to touch a lonely heart
And it's you and me in the summertime
We'll be hand-in-hand down in the park...
With a squeeze and a sigh
And the twinkle in your eye
And all the sunshine banishes the dark...
And it's you I need in the summertime
As I turn my white skin red...
Two peas from the same pod, yes we are
Or have I read too much fiction?
Is this how it happens...?
How does it happen?
How does it happen?
How does it happen?
Is this how it happens?

feels a bit cheesy and yet i like it
lovely lyrical, so intelligent, intellectual, like the girl you never won.
Lovely firm punchy recording, especially the bass and the chorus is enchantingly childish. Liverpudlian ladies are highly recommended too!
Why sing as a spoiled child?
I really miss these guys. Wish they'd come back and make some great music again!
Love The Sundays... Great pop sounds!
Iām envisioning a fish out of water love story set in late 90s UK with the Sundays as the main soundtrack. Now I just gotta write it.
Goosebumps - what vocals! š
Very cute vocal
Surely one of the most cherished songs in my collection from this astounding and always fresh-sounding band! I love The SUNDAYS

2 different things... far side of the moon and the dark side... the far side is always the far side...the one that doesn't face the earth...sometimes we can see the dark side of the moon.

Something about The Sundays brings out the Melancholy in me every time.
In the very best way.

Great songwriting
Great band, one of my favourite voices.
wish this band would rise up from the ashes

damn if I'm not agreeing w/ fredriley on this one ;-)
I want to rate an 8 at first cause it starts off great, then my elation deflates and my rating drops towards the floor and I re-rate a mere four. Average that out and final rating = 6 from the Seeking Summertime in Seattle section!!

this album cover reminds me of the fact that the earth and moon revolve in synchrony such that we never see the other side of the moon.....thus the dark side of the moon.....

When does summer end? Around September 22nd.
Is this a summer theme in honor of the season's close? It is autumn equinox today, after all. If so, here's hoping for Summer's Caldroun -> Grass by XTC next!
Ahhh, Summertime on the Vineyard!

Luv'n the "Summer" theme songs.....and with the temps reaching into the upper 90's even here near Paradise, it is very appropo!
Wow, cool blast from the past!

Everything they do is non-cheese filled joy. I usually can't stand extreme soprano lead singers, but my sakes if Harriet doesn't pull it off perfectley everytime.

It has been said that the Sunday's songs sound like Wheeler's singing is making love to Gavurin's guitar playing. I've listened for this and it appears to be the truth. We havn't heard much recently since as they are currently caught up raising their kids! One of the all time great underrated bands of the 90s. They never made a bad album. They never made a bad song. They have few musical peers.
...wow - last comment june eighteenth?..barely eeking in season this year...
"excuse me miss, where are the men's socks?"

Oh and by the way, I loved every album by the Sundays and listened to them non stop through the early 90's. They went before their time. Great vocals by the adorable Harriet, great guitars by Dave and a solid rythym section to go along with it all. Loved 'em.
Yeah, it is wonderful Rob.
This tune is so summer. Even if it is really spring.
Love RP a lot!
Thanks.
weak K-Mart music

Yeah, and remember how I said "At least Target uses original music for their commercials...or at least I think so."
Guess I was wrong.
It may pale to most everything on Blind and the "3 R's", but it's hard not to enjoy listening to lovely Harriet sing away.
We heard this in a Target commercial a few nights ago.
...this song is bright!...

RP made my morning. Sundays are on with their oh so lovely track "Summertime" :))) And if to mention this small fact that this is wonderful summertime at the moment, then I just can't ask for more.
Solid 10.

So far I've liked the last 8 tracks that I've heard this morning! Nice work :)
I love The Sundays and I love this song. I discovered them on MTV's 120 Minutes many, many moons ago and I was like, "Man, that lead singer is hot! She's a babe!" I bought there album Blind and have been in love with them ever since! Thanks RP!

Chiming in with everyone else here: I adore this song, and everything I've ever heard by the Sundays. Thank you Chris D. for putting a whole album onto cassette for me back in the 90s... it was my introduction to this band, and I'm so grateful!
Thought that might perplex a few folks, if not all of them It's from a Jetsons show where Judy is in love with some guy and says he's "the utmost!" Their robot maid recounts this to someone and says something like, "Judy says he's the most ut!" Guess you had to be there, but it's stuck with me for 30 years.

I came to say the same same thing too. Put some real trumpets in there and you've got a hit, instead of a semi-cheesy bit of electronica. Harriet Wheeler is the most ut, I'd have to say.

I have loved this song since high school....so fantastic. This entire album...and I echo a previous sentiment: Please, put this into rotation more!!! So fun and happy!
Like this tune and the Sundays, too. Too bad they are no more.

Ahem, excellent tune.

I dunno why, but this song makes me shake my booty. This whole album should be on RP, there's not a bad track on it.
Slow in rotation. Please play this more often.
Great fun. Harriet Wheeler's voice is exquisite.
Love the Sundays!
I've not heard this one before, but I do love the Sundays. Loved Reading, Writing, and 'Rithmatic. Good to hear them again
