I see the rifles coming over the hill
And if you shout maybe they stop and won't kill
But if they think like me
You'll be as dead as he

I see the lion crawling over your bed
And if you stay awake you'll walk in lead
To what you know will be
Never lets you breathe

I see no color in your eyes
I see no images at all
I see no color in your eyes
And no reflections, no earth or sky

I won't let you take him away
And I won't give to you the fires of hate
So I will never see
What you've done to me

I see no color in your eyes
I see no images at all
I see no color in your eyes
And no reflections, no earth or sky

Now you come alive
With the world at your side

I see the rifles coming over the hill
And if you shout maybe they stop and won't kill
But if they think like me
You'll be as dead as he, hesitating

I see no color in your eyes
I see no images at all
I see no color in your eyes
And no reflections no earth or sky

Now you come alive
With the world at your side

San Fransisco is SOOOOO the new Manchester

San Francisco has long been a source of great new music from the Dead and Quicksilver Messaging Service to Journey to Michael Franti to BRMC! I love how the city inspires new musicians.
Thanks to movie, ''9 songs" - at first I hearing this band.
Still astonishing, after all these years! Always love hearing the ominous atmosphere and clanging guitars in this... To me, it's a sonic tapestry done quite well!
just Love this band!!!!
Specially the guitar strumming.
super sexy.

Saw them in Portland, OR several years ago -- they absolutely rocked. Excellent show -- they had their female drummer then & she was amazing.

Superb. A great presence about them. Saw them in Norwich, UK about 17 years ago (OMG!)

I was big into "The Call" with Michael Been (Robert's father) but this band has not really done it for me. Different generation I guess. It's ok.
Volume knob to the absolute max.

Thank you, Misfits TV series, for showing me this gem.

Y'know, I gave this song a 9, and BRMC pretty much bottoms out at a 7 for me, but, yeah, I could see this if you're not into it.
I remember the first time I heard this album and I was hooked. Saw them numerous times live and love nearly all of their music, except for Baby 81 and 333, but 20 Hours from the Baby 81 Sessions is a rarely heard gem.

I can't make my mind up about these. They're like a kind of slower Ramones, with a similar guitar driven sound, I was never a massive fan of those but they had their moments
Yep. It's good.
Godlike, no question.
Sucko Barfo ! Every eye has colors !
Better saying you're blind...

You should check out The Call, lead by Robert Been's dad Michael. Unfortunately he passed a few years ago. I was introduced to them by a room mate while living in the Central Valley in the 80s.

I hear it.
Reminds me of 'Climbing up the walls' by Radiohead. A solid 9 allthough!

Same here. Heard this song on RP back in 2004 and it really impressed me, especially for a freshmen effort. I've bought every album since and remain impressed with all that they have done.
John singing Cold Turkey
EXCELLENT TRACK!
John Lennon all the way
Bland. 3.
Thank you Bill for your MASTERFUL segue skills! From Cris Isaak Go Walking Down There to BRMC Rifles. So smooth.
Keep up the good work
goth rock n roll in the groove of jesus and mary chain
This is one of those stand out tunes for me

Reminds me of "Radiohead: Climbing up the walls" (OK Computer). Like it anyway!
Become a total classic for me....just had to bump up to a 9!
Listening to this, it somehow makes me thinking, they should have told The Stone Roses how to make their 2nd album (more successful).

Yeah, that's better than being out on a dark night and running into someone wielding a long club. Anyhow, cool tune - nice atmosphere.
I love this for the same reasons I love the High Violets.  A Bristolian 8 at least and may drift higher.

No, never! Keep that beast alive!
Catatonic melodies should be reserved for Buddhist monks and their followers. Guess I'm not into this catatonic tune. Peace.
At first listen, I thought this was Silversun Pickups.
BOC to BRMC = brilliant! These are some soul-known grooves here, regardless of when...And So Began My Travels Waterboys next!
The whole band needs a metronome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   {#Frustrated}

Saw them play this track live at a gig at a smallish venue in Brighton a few years back. It is still one of my most memorable gigs. It is rare to find such raw power and talent and they provided a wall of sound to the experience that seemed impossible out of just three instruments.

These - guys - rock.

You must not be familiar with their work, closer to a tame version of Jesus & Mary Chain than U2 if anything?!

Blue Oyster Cult, "Godzilla," followed by "Rifles."

Well as you say, you win a few, lose a few, and the others sneak up behind your back

Good sex song.
Not bad, they should have tried a little harder to disguise the fact that this borrows heavily from "Climbing up the Walls".
I hate that I love this band so much.  I first heard them a few years ago and dug my heels in. I'm not sure, but I think I even clapped my hands over my ears and chanted, "Lalalalala - I can't hear you! I can't hear you!" I was determined to not like their sound, because, come on - naming your band after a biker gang from a Brando movie? Incredibly arrogant. (Yeah, my rationale was lame then, and it sounds even lamer now.) {#Embarassed}

Looks like in the end, they won and I lost.  I love their music. BRMC, I hate you. {#Notworthy}
I have to hear more of these guys!

Man!  I was about to go run an errand but this song just stopped me in my tracks.  Too cool!  Kinda remind me of the Church for some reason. Not sure why, 'cause it's a different vibe altogether.  Me likey!
Think I'm adding to this my iTunes collection. The name throws you off completely, which is likely the point. Nice, warm rock tune.

Awesome show in Atlanta last night. They played this song and most of the songs from Baby 81. See them live if you can.
Thanks again for the BRMC. These guys are what rock 'n roll is all about.

you lucky bastard. . . how were they?
Damn--it turns into a pop song. They should have turned that interesting guitar intro into a klaxon, a malevolent siren. More ominous and doomsday, and stayed with it. And some cowbell, of course!

Lovin' this! Turn it up to 11, Nigel....
Mmm I'd make love to this guy's voice - dark and brooding YUM
Not a bad song but sounds a little too much like "Climb Up the Walls" by Radiohead for me.
Perfect for shoe-gazing...
Nice Pink Floyd-y feel to this one.
Nice brooding...
awww yeah.
Nice sound. Never heard, but like!
Almost as cool as the Jesus and Mary Chain.
Good sound, but more Love & Rockets than Stone Roses...or Radiohead. Maybe a touch of The Cult like around the "She Sells Sanctuary" time. Sort of that muffled guitar that could make your ears bleed if they took the muzzle off.
So, this is what The Cure would sound like without Robert Smith on the vocals. Not bad.

When I hear this song, I feel like I am on drugs. Or I should be. And that's a good thing.
