It is only love I feel
That will give us peace of heart
In my hour of desperate need
I feel closer to the one
Oh, but why

Please, human being
If you bleed they will say that it's destined
They'll be punching tickets by the minute
If you fall out of line
Desperate, desperate

Tell me, is it death you feel
That will bring you peace of life?
Who won?
Tell me, who won this?
Tell me, who won?
Tell me, who won this?
Tell me, who won?
When you lose your self-esteem
That's when love dies

Oh, please human being
If you bleed they will say that it's destined
They'll be punching tickets by the minute
If you butt out of life
We're mere human beings ,we die
(So) desperate, (so) desperate

Well, I feel
When you reach number one
You look like you're bluffing
But really you'll be blocking the Sun
Blocking the Sun
Blocking the Sun
Blocking the Sun

We're mere human beings
We die
It's destined
They'll be punching tickets by the minute
You fall out of life
We're mere human beings, we die
We're mere human beings, we die
Desperate
It's destined
We're mere human beings, we die
Desperate
It's destined, destined

Every song is a good one on this album.
Dude had an extended stay at a hotel in SoCal that I had a senior position at and I can personally relate that he was a decent, kind human being.  Treated all the staff with respect.  The only issue was answering his phone calls.  We were expected to answer every in-house call by the guest's name...."hello, Mr. Smith, how can I assist you/".  It was panic central every time I saw his name pop up.  Seal?  Seemed awfully informal.  Mr. Seal...also wrong.  Probably the only guest that I wilfully ignored the name requirement for.  And that voice...it's all there...

Pull up your pants, your virtue is showing!
I have always enjoyed how existential Seal's music is.

Yes, but much creepier!

Amazing how some people still get their panties all in a bunch, when they see a white girl with a black dude or vice versa, and then they have to wrap it up in some thinly veiled personal attack to cover up how uncomfortable it makes them when they see or hear about other people who date and god forbid marry outside their ethnic group.

Here's your litmus test, ask yourself honestly how you're going to react when your kid comes home with their girl/boyfriend of another color. That exact moment - right there is where you'll know if you're a racist. If you are, make sure you get your entire head in front of the shotgun. Thanks for calling.

These allegations are not substantiated from any respectable source.

Certainly not the s*#t stirrer TMZ who released this nugget that was plastered everywhere in 2012:
“Seal’s inability to control his anger has become too much for Heidi to take, in no small part because it’s affecting their children.” While there was no infidelity, she did also grow tired of his hard partying ways.

The NY Daily News, no stranger to sensationalism, had this to say at the time of the breakup (from someone close to the couple):
"These are two huge personalities. And when you love hard, you fight hard. And they both fought," the source said, scoffing at reports the singer sealed his fate with rampant fits of rage.  To paint this as all Seal and his temper is really, really inaccurate," the source said, adding that neither side is claiming infidelity. "This is not a man with a volcanic temper. It's just not true. "

Heidi, a more reliable source, had this to say after a few reflective years:
“He was never your typical dad who left for work in the morning with his briefcase and would be home by dinner time every night. He traveled a lot. The kids knew it was part of his job,” she told . “I’m a mom and a dad at the same time.”  However, Heidi made it very clear she was not insulting Seal’s parenting skills, responding to the backlash by saying, “It is frustrating to me that some other media outlets are taking what was said in the article to suggest that I was aiming to malign my children’s father. Because I was not!”

This does not seem to rise to the level of A-hole/abuser.  Think before h8.

Like the song, but that album (CD) cover gives me the creeps.
Seal's musical vibe is always recognizable.  Love the mood of it!

That said, Human Being was 16 years old in 2014 and Seal has released 3 studio albums of new material (Seal IV 2003, System 2007, and Seal 6: Commitment 2010) as well as the aforementioned 2 soul cover albums (Soul 2008 and Soul 2 2011).   The man has been busy the whole time.

Dude is gifted with a mercurial sense of melody.
And he knows his key changes.
Unmistakable.

such an outstanding, unforgetable photo of this wicked singer!
Haven't heard this in an age.  Thanks, Bill!  Now how about "Kiss from a Rose"?
There was a time in my life, a rather long period that spanned the releases of most of his albums, where his music spoke to me and helped me handle the difficult things I encountered. For that I am grateful and regard his music warmly to this day.{#Daisy}

Perfect, coming on the heels of Bullet The Blue Sky! I'd never have seen these 2 going together, but yes, yes.

Saw him live 3 times, best performer ever! Live is even better than studio production! Thanks Bill!
Seal always managed to put out smart R&B without sounding the least bit cliche.  This is awesome.
Not bad!
Really enjoying this. Guess because it's not killed by over-exposure.
We may die, but We are imortal .  Sweet song
Love, love, LOVE Seal. Thanks, Bill!
All things considered, I could care less about the breakup of Seal's marriage; let Seal and Heidi be....

This is a pretty decent song!!
This is a treat.  There's probably 10-15 RP quality Seal songs out there, and this is one of them.  This is a very atmospheric album, and this song kicks things off nicely.  Thanks for the play.

Thank you for playing Seal!
Ecstatic to hear Seal on RP!  Extraordinary artist, I think.
Thanks for this song from the best Seal's album.. {#Good-vibes}

The first song by Seal I actually enjoyed. Thanks!
This is Seal? Not bad!
Released 1998
glad to hear select Seal on RP. This is one of his best songs.
ho-hum sums it up for me
Definitely a voice I would love to hear more of. He has a voice build for ballads. Motown would have loved him back in the day. To me, the discoid lupus scars just add character.

Sorry. I do not like this

Agree 100%. Love this album.
Every musician who thinks he or she has to use that awefull voice effect should be kicked in the larynx. {#Razz}
His real name's Henry...and his mate Paul once reversed a rented Merc convertible in to a wall,

it was the only song i liked on the cassette tape i bought it on an....State of Grace i liked as well...

Pretty good post on song meanings.net about it....Basically: We're getting it all wrong.  We're kicking people when they're down to make us feel good as we race to our deaths.

Always compelling ...
Excellent Album, largely overlooked for his more popular work.

OMG, how did this get on my favourite radio?
It's nice to hear some Seal on RP!
This isn't my favourite song of his, but it'll do!

Awesome song, gets a 9 from me.

Hmmmmmmmm....... not too bad.......

I really need to get more of his stuff. I find myself randomly singing Seal songs with no albums to listen to.
I keep hearing that Lady and the Tramp song "We are Siamese if you please..."

i give the song a 5 rating, and the cover a 3 rating. seal has a great body.
Seal usually grates on my nerves, but I like this.
The album cover is fantastic! Oscar

Red or White? I agree. Most Seal songs put me in a good place. He put out an acoustic version of many hits which is excellent.
Seal's voice is just awesome. Perfect pitch and just the right amount of grit. It doesn't get any better.
Love that guy! So damn sexy. Too bad they make not so cute kids.

Anyone been able to talk Seal into doing a duet with Sarde? That would be like velvet. Good song.
I've often thought that a triple bill of Seal, Sade, and Lenny Kravitz would make for a very, shall I say, sensual evening.

Yeah, man. He's one ugly dude.
Such 'lookism'! I think he's incredibly attractive, because he carries himself with such dignity. Beauty is such a small part of the overall equation, and rates as the only important one with so many. I just don't get that.
The instrumental reprise of this song on the end of the album is really cool as well.
Hey finally Seal redeems himself for Kiss From a Rose .. almost. ugggggggggggh this is a good song though, to be sure.
Fabulous track, my favorite on this album. The only album he produced himself, and he never did it again.
Hmm make that a 10 this is a realy cool track :D
That's one spooky album cover, while Seal himself is so humble himself. He produces great music
I gave it an 8 on the intro and first parts... Then the chorus hit... 9 :D Really nice stuff this track is very new to me.
Wonderful production by Trevor Horn. Clean, unique and musical. Actually finds a use for all the musical technology developed in the last decade.

This set sounds even better at 192k: Seal - Human Beings The Cure - Out Of This World Radiohead - Optimistic
I saw Seal live a few times early on in his career and he experimented heavily with the arrangements of his song. The band rocked hard.. it was like he had a little Bowie in him. I met him a few times in Hollywood. He was always very nice and engaged. I think he deserves everything he's gotten.
Yeah we need a bit more Seal played on RP, especially the non-commercial cuts. I concur with all the comments below. But I guess his beauty is really more than skin deep!

Seal has a great voice and that knack for creating poetry in all his songs. Let alone his very competent composing. And the production done by Trevor Horn is excellent every time. Seal is a great example of having a distinct "sound". Nothing that one finds about too much these days. One of my favourite artists, greatly underrated I find.
I totally agree Bakshish. The only time Seal caught me off guard was actually being out of tune when I saw him sing on British television a few decades ago. I figure he must have had a cold or his headphones were not working properly. Other than that one instance, his voice puts my soul into a pleasant place every time - particularly his early albums.

Funny... when I saw him live (tour for the 2nd album), he rocked out. It was an amazing show. As for humble, most certainly... I had an opportunity to watch him tape an interview segment for a radio show and then meet him afterwards (the day before the concert, I think)... He could have just rushed out of the studio like most sane celebrities would, but he stuck around for a good 15 minutes or so and chatted with the 6 or 7 of us there... very warm, friendly, thoughtful guy... IMHO, though, his albums have been progressively worse... and I haven't seen him tour since. I can't for the life of me understand why almost all of the Seal here at RP is from his last 2 albums, and I'm doing my best to rectify that via the LRC.
Yes precious...we likes the seal don't we...
I really love this song. The whole album is pretty mellow like this. It's pretty good.

HA! And now two years on, as I am getting ready to end my shift.. I'm reminded of last year, my father had some equestrian art entered into a who..do at the home of the Kentucky Derby.. on the way down in my neon.. sunroof open, him sleeping in the passenger seat, I cranked the tune a little, sun setting in front of me as I'm driving westward.. it was an awesome moment in time, tune fit well.. it seemed a simplier time once I often wonder if I'll ever realize the simple moments when they are starting to happen so I can enjoy them all the more.. (he sleeps like the dead except that he snores, he was oblivious to the sights, sounds, and that moment in time, his loss)
Seal has a true musical soul. It shows in his voice and melodies.
