Hello

Come in and get yourself something to drink
And tell me something I don't know about you
I'll tell you something 'bout me

Does it feel right
Like penetrating insight
Or blinded by the cuckoo with the hiccups
It's tricky to decide

I think I'm coming round, I'm seeing through the smoke
I think I'm coming round, I'm feeling signs of hope
Some water, some whiskey, some cigarettes or dope
I think I'm coming round, can you help me up to cope?

(Ooh, yeah yeah)
(Ooh, yeah yeah)
(Ooh, yeah yeah)
(Ooh, yeah yeah)

We're trapped in
Undergoing modernist sins
The probe cannot be driven through the kneecap
The kneecap will prevail here

So keep trying, prevent yourself from crying
You're shaking hyperventilated mish-mash
Made entirely out of bones

I think I'm coming round, I'm seeing through the smoke
I think I'm coming round, I'm feeling signs of hope
Some water, some whiskey, some cigarettes or dope
I think I'm coming round, can you help me up to cope?

I've been thinking one thing but doing something else in a daze, yeah
I'm trying to keep from getting uptight
I'm trying to keep from getting uptight

I've been thinking one thing but doing something else in a daze, yeah
I'm trying to keep from getting uptight
I'm trying to keep from getting uptight

The peace pipe
Is flying round the bat's head
The hippies will be camping out tonight (Kum bye ah, my lord)
Singing Hari Kari (Adikhari)

And right now it's cooking up a storm now
It's intravenous terror en masse
Your spaceship has arrived (please get in)

I've been thinking one thing but doing something else in a daze, yeah
I'm trying to keep from getting uptight
I'm trying to keep from getting uptight

I've been thinking one thing but doing something else in a daze, yeah
I'm trying to keep from getting uptight
I'm trying to keep from getting uptight

I've been thinking one thing but doing something else in a daze, yeah
I'm trying to keep from getting uptight
I'm trying to keep from getting uptight

This started out a 3 due to the vaguely interesting bass-line in the beginning. Then it dropped to a 2 and ended a 1. Total crap without any focus.
{#Bananajam}looking forward to their new album coming out in the spring... and the follow-up concert tour..!  these guys are incredible musicians, I've never seen so many guitars on stage.

not bad but like an earlier commenter wrote, their first two albums were fantastic; this is kind of British Beck-sounding but not as quirky.
AWESOME!  THIS IS BACK WHEN GOMEZ WAS STILL PUTTING OUT REALLY GOOD STUFF. {#Drummer}{#Bananajam}{#Dancingbanana}{#Drunk}
FUN!{#Moon}
Okay, okay, I'll buy the album already!!! I've heard three or four songs from this album in the last week and I've really liked them all. I think Bill is trying to tell me something...
These guys were a good deal of fun live...but I can't sit around and listen to them much...this is one of there better songs in my opinion...I dig all the sound effects...and the "trying to keep from getting uptight" vocals..... Oh yeah...and I really dig the painting on the cover...
Sounded weird when I first heard it, but my rating is rising...
"Ooh yeah, think you'd better cool down Either that or box it all up, send it to Detroit" "Put the message in the box..."
This is a good starter ablum for anyone wanting to become more familiar with Gomez. trout_fisher wrote:

Still do. Only Tom seems to have much stage presence, but then somebody's gotta handle the audience interaction. Creative nerds of the world unite!
Hey this is kinda cool...
Have Gomez moved to the states? I liked that song of theirs 'Whipping Piccadily', around the mid-90s, I think, but haven't heard much of them since then. They looked like kinda introverted student types back then. It's good to see they are going strong, maybe I'm being retarded but Im sure theres not much talk of them on these shores. Gonna have to catch up on them. Do the 'super furry animals' ever get played on here? If so, they have a new incarnation in the shape of the 'Acid casuals', only heard one song- the excellent 'Bowl me over'. A real treat for anyone who likes the super furry sound.
Not the best song on the album, but not bad either.
One of my favs from a great album. I love all the sounds and styles they threw into this disc.
Is it possible that I like EVERY Gomez song? This doesn't happen to me since I discovered the Eels. :D/
A treat after Cake? It's like a dessert - for your dessert! :D
Another pearl from Gomez. These guys continue to amaze me.
Gomez after Cake? That's the opposite of what I saw last Wednesday (live) in Madison. A superb show by two superb bands. Oh yeah, and this song is one of the easiest 10's I've ever given out on RP.
This set with R.Palmer, followed by Gomez-Detroit Swing - is sounding nice tonight.
dig this tune...makes my body jerk ;-)
Gomez are pretty eclectic themselves... ;)
I love this band!

I usually love Gomez but this song wasn't working for me until I suddenly realized I was tapping my fingers and "trying to keep from dancing..." Ah, why resist?
Uh oh! That's how I go into this band, now I have 2 of their albums, and I'm going to get them all!

Great followup to Yello\'s \"The Race\"; --d
I just popped up my screen to enter my comment of "Love it!" and then I saw yours! I guess I second it!!

These guys Rule- Seen them 4 times in Phili, and they put on a great live show! - Rin from www.hippiecrap.com
Humm, interesting... not bad :)
\"In our gun\" is a very good album, highly recommended. There\'s a great variaty of rhythms, songs,... for Gomez
Veeery unusual rhythm there in the middle. Cool!
gomez: the more i hear, the more i like.
\"In our gun\" is a good album ? Songs like this or \"Ping one down\" sounds very nice.
Much very nice...good morning start up.
I find I like the off beat nature or supposed nature of the song.. and then the ending.. very awesome... acapella (?sp) cool..

Oh and it is. Doves, Gomez, Radiohead, Porcupine Tree.... its all good.
So where\'s a good version of \"Route 66\" when you need it?
I think leaving out the words would be a good decision on this one. Ick.
Great song and album. The beginning of this song (before the sax comes in) reminds me of the Beta Band.
Wow, this song sure shows off the 128K stream! Very crisp. Me likey.

It sounds indeed like a didgeridoo. Probably they sampled the sound of one and made a melody with it on a keyboard, of which they eventually made a loop.

I don't hear a didgeridoo, but I do like the layering of this song as well blarg.
