Nice guitar. Absolutely unendurable triangle. PSD.

Because it looks funny. Get a grip. Sheesh.

It's NewAge. boo.
It's country. boo.
It's metal. boo.
It's technopop. boo.
It's easylisteningoperacountryrapmetal. boo.
It speaks to you or it doesn't. Frankly, I don't much care about the label, the end result is what counts. I happily give out 2's for those that leave me cold, and the 8's for ones that kick me in the junk.
Wait! I know you guys know this. How often does RP recycle its playlists? This is madness.
So many armchair critics. So so tedious.
Every day's playlist is a revelation. Thanks Bill. Freed from commercial radio tyranny forever.
Some people still just don't appreciate what they've got here, and that's a real shame.
Will it all please everybody? No. But come on folks, easy does it. Geez. Don't like it, don't listen.
It's called "NewAge" and it rhymes with "sewage".
But this ain't either. Its derned good picking, if you axe me.

This is the second time I've seen the phrase "New Age" used in reference to really excellent guitar playing. The first was a response to a piece by an artist in Mali. And then there's this. Sort of makes me think if there's a genre called "New Age" and these songs are representative of that genre...well, you can count me in as a fan, though I've never dressed up like a hobbit. I think it's beautiful. What's wrong with something that's just basically well done? Ah, I suppose it's lacking a little testosterone. But man, you can't listen to Whitesnake all the time.

I was thinking Ottmar on Xanax with a sore right hand.
That Michael Bolton can wail man!
I feel as thought this piece ended too soon.
Gawd I hate this new age crap. This is music for people who like to dress up like hobbits and medieval damsels. ekkk.
looks like he just stepped off the cover of a romance novel.
Bill,
You should list French composer Rene Aubry. Would fit in really well after Jesse Cook.
Nice way to ease into the day. Pretty and not too challenging.
Nice set, Bill.
Just strolled into work, and life is ambient.
You may outdo yourself from yesterday.
At the first few bars I came here wondering what Gipsy Kings album this was from.
Then as I discovered the artist (new to me) and the bars went by and nothing really seemed to develop, I realized what wonders can be achieved with resonant effects and a tinkle bell, and I issued a rare sub 5.
A wasted opportunity.

You definitely don't want to judge this CD by its cover. Some marketing guy probably thought that cd cover was cool...Otherwise it's a good song.
i really would like to have those curls though. talk about hella product.
This isn't very good, but the little bell in the background makes it really awful. Did the producer wonder, how can we make sure people know that this is new agey nonsense-I know add a little tinkeling bell!
Anyone else keep waiting for this to turn into
HOTEL CALIFORNIA?
And a couple of months later, the same set agin!

Strangely enough, 5 months later I'm hearing this song right after "Go Insane"! I hope RP isn't a very long tape loop! Nawwww must be an incredible coincidence.....

Christie Brinkley?
boy, this sounds as if a dude from an new-age ashram tries to impress a bunch of boyscouts with some guitar tabs ... no substance, no nothing.

I purchased "Breathing Below Surface" after hearing it here...looks like I'll be buying this one too.

Wow...this is a exquisite song...i bought a couple of Jesse Cook albums after hearing this one and there's something for everyone in his music. The reworking of Neil Finn's "Fall at Your Feet" on the same album is a good one, too (but begs the question: why get Danny Wilde of the Rembrandts to handle vocals instead of the real McCoy)? Probably the song I listen to the most is "Down Like Rain" which is also sung by Wilde on the Album Nomad. If you like flamenco-tinged world music, check it out.
This is the first time in a very long time that I've screamed in rage and turned RP off...
Jesse, do something about that hair!
yawny

Talk like Yoda, you do! ;)
I'm sorry, but I this, imho, really bad.
It's hackneyed, boring, and totally void of substance. Great guitarist, it sounds nice, but still... What about the MUSIC?

Like this? Check out Willie & Lobo and all Gipsy Kings instrumentals (I don't care for their "singing"), as well as the other artists mentioned above.
Lovely!
This is the difference between music that you hear and music that you feel.
From "Go Insane" to this...smooth!

Very nice.
would be lovely to hear some selections from the "Motorcycle Diaries" soundtrack here.
Memo to self: buy this!
There's a lot of stuff on RP that i think is quite nice but this is the 1st in a while I've been impelled to buy the record.
Straightforward feelgood and y not.
Admittedly it's borderline schmaltz but it's just far enough north of the border to bear repeated playings.
This is just stunning. I've been wanting to get some of his CDs for ages, now. Time to do it! :goodvibes.gif:
wow... I think you're reading my mind. I was just on amozon adding this cd to my wishlist. Great stuff.

well put, but i wonder if i am the only one that doesn't like players that make their instrument "sing" like a human voice. I think that sounds always tacky, no matter how good the player, or tasteful the music ...
Seen him live at the Montreal Jazz fest. I must say i was totally blown away. See him live if u ever get the chance.

Great segue from Bruce Cockburn's Bone In My Ear to this piece Bill.
I concur with the segue bit.
Beautiful.
"Virtue" from a virtuoso. Nice composition. Very nicely played.
Wonderful. :D

Sounds like a slow version of the Gypsy Kings to me.
Thought it was Ottmar Liebert, now I\'ll have to go check out Jesse.

Before it finished I rated it at 8. @20 seconds later it became a 9 for me. Thanks, Bill!
