Let's just say up front that I'm not a rap fan by any measure - it's more the message than the music that often offends me. It'd also be brutally candid for me to state that I wouldn't crawl through broken glassto listen to Lightfoot, either, although he's done some really good work.
But this was such a strange and original combination that it made me stop everything I was doing to listen. Credit where credit's due, duly noted and deserved IMHO.

I like this version better than Gordon's original. (Lightfoot's songs always seemed sappy to me.)

I don't get it when people join this listening community and start laying out their own narrow parameters of what -kind- of songs belong on a station that tells you upfront will be playing an eclectic mix. That's far beyond questioning the quality of an individual song.

I really don't like this song either but, you think rap has -NO- place on RP? And you know the definition of 'eclectic?' Bill may disagree that any real rap song (this cover doesn't qualify!) could blend into his mix — DJ's prerogative — but there is some excellent stuff out there that doesn't get mainstream play, or rap artists that don't get enough.
I don't get it when people join this listening community and start laying out their own narrow parameters of what -kind- of songs belong on a station that tells you upfront will be playing an eclectic mix. That's far beyond questioning the quality of an individual song.

Not good. . . but better than I expected after getting half way through....If Bill stops playing it, my feelings won't be hurt, but it is not quite mute material.
I tend to be of the opinion that you can't spell crap without... well, you get the idea. There are rare exceptions, though, and this is one of them. Elwood puts an interesting and catchy twist on an old classic, adding a nice groove whilst giving a nod to Gordon Lightfoot's unique vocal style.
That was fun. I liked it.
I think it's an original idea to cover this and do something different with it - if I were GL I'd be flattered.
I like this -- they successfully take an iconic 70's tune and put their own spin on it, while maintaining a connection to the original. I don't think I'd like to hear it all the time, but every once in a while to break things up it'd be a good choice.
Hey there y'all. I was just going to bed and heard this and had to sit and listen. I liked Gordon Lightfoot's version of course, but that was like 30 years ago! I like this version, although I don't like most rap... Thanks again Bill for stretching my limits.

Though I'm a sucker for GL, I thought this was a gutsy and passionate rendition. I think this speaks to the SONG, not necessarily the group performing it. Not sure I would have thought to cover "Sundown" via hip-hop, but it maintains its integrity here.
Kudos to Bill for exposing me (us) to yet ANOTHER group and day filled with songs I'd NEVER hear elsewhere.
