(When) The silicon chip inside her head
Gets switched to overload
And nobody's gonna go to school today
She's gonna make them stay at home
And daddy doesn't understand it
He always said she was good as gold
And he can see no reasons
'Cos there are no reasons
What reason do you need to be show-ow-ow-ow-own?
Tell me why
I don't like Mondays
Tell me why
I don't like Mondays
Tell me why
I don't like Mondays
I wanna shoo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oot the whole day down
The Telex machine is kept so clean
And it types to a waiting world
And mother feels so shocked
Father's world is rocked
And their thoughts turn to their own little girl
Sweet 16 ain't that peachy keen
Now that ain't so neat to admit defeat
They can see no reasons
'Cos there are no reasons
What reasons do you need?
Oh Oh Oh Oh
Tell me why
I don't like Mondays
Tell me why
I don't like Mondays
Tell me why
I don't like Mondays
I wanna shoo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oot
The whole day down, down, down, shoot it all down
And all the playing's stopped in the playground now
She wants to play with the toys a while
And school's out early and soon we'll be learning
And the lesson today is how to die
And then the bullhorn crackles
And the captain tackles
With the problems of a house and wife
And he can see no reasons
'Cos there are no reasons
What reason do you need to die, die?
Oh Oh Oh
Tell me why
I don't like Mondays
Tell me why
I don't like Mondays
Tell me why
I don't like
I don't like (Tell me why)
I don't like Mondays
Tell me why
I don't like
I don't like (Tell me why)
I don't like Mondays
Tell me why
I don't like Mondays
I wanna shoo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oot the whole day down

I totally agree
I am afraid I have to agree, though I know I'll be slammed for it. Yeah, it has history and it has great lyrics, but I can't get past Geldoff's voice, and the high-school musical arrangement.
Duck!
This is the absolute pits.
I totally agree skybreakers wrote:

This is why i find the comments section on RP invaluable -- did not know the story behind the song, it puts the lyrics in a completely different perspective.
Thanks.
I hate this song
I find I write the same blurb about twice every day day: "Great pull! Reminds me of my freshman year in college; drinking, hanging with my buds and various girlfriends. Thanks for the memories."
Wow, this song is on RP! Interesting.
I usually do not like Mondays, but I like my job, especially on the first day after the holidays because of the bursting energy :)
This is the reason I listen to Radio Paradise... I'm sitting here and, suddenly, a flash back to an old record I used to own. Remembering the cover with the cricket pitcher.

Please don't...
what great way to make my monday worse!
Haven't heard this in a while - thanks!
I started off my Monday with a dentist's appointment! Le yay!
I have always found this song pretty annoying. Not in a good way
tori's version is better!

I agree. I like it MUCH better...
you gotta be kidding me. please don't play again.
Tori Amos's verison of this song is great! Quite differnt in a Tori sort of way.
Wow - this is great to hear again....
Makes me think of the skinhead standing in the doorway auditioning for Jimmy Rabbite at the beginning of The Commitments. . .
Nor do I Mr. Geldof.
Depressing, plinky plink song for me.
Talk about out of the mothballs. Bill must be having a rough one to exhume this one.
Great song though.
Perfect song for Monday! :D
Nice. How about \"Rat Trap\" next time?
Sweeeeeeeeeeet.
A classic band that's languishing on vinyl under the stairs. I was thinking about them over the weekend, and now I think it's time to visit Amazon. Thanks, uploader--you cost me fifteen bucks!
edit: By the way: this is not a "fun" song. It's a true story about murder. Kind of a cliché to play it on Monday, but any rats any time is better than none at all.
I\'ve always liked this song, but I don\'t like Tuesdays Wednesday,Thursdays Fridays Saturdays and Sundays.
I however like leap year day
I\'ll save you from having to read my rantings as to why I don\'t like Mondays.
The song, however, is fun to hear. Haven\'t heard it in quite a while.
join the club...
Oh Bill, you couldn\'t have picked a better Monday to play this one! Sums it up perfectly. And aside from that, it\'s good to hear from Geldof & company -- haven\'t heard this in a long time!
