Would the clouds in your head all fade away
Would song and dance start and find a parade
Would the shroud of turin be upstaged
Would the pull of the earth be enough of a weight
Would it be crystal clear to gauge

If I raised my hand for the wrongs, raised my hand for the wrongs
Raised my hand for the wrongs, raised my hand for the wrongs.

It's more a question of different eyes
Looking in the same old places
A horizontal stretch of movement
Catching up then caught but losing
It's a native tongue equation.

If I raised my hand for the wrongs, raised my hand for the wrongs
Raised my hand for the wrongs, raised my hand for the wrongs.

Tales of life like it's Mardi Gras
Unprescribed sedation
Pushed to the brink of something
Fanbelts squeal when they're loosening
It's a native tongue equation.

Raised my hand for the wrongs, raised my hand for the wrongs
Raised my hand for the wrongs, raised my hand for the wrongs.

Well, it is Son Volt, more-or less: same singer/front-man.

No.  We really don't.
Wow...is this guy talented!

Okay - he's got a rather nasal voice, with no discernable vibrato.  And I like it.  Jackson Browne doesn't have a vibrato, either, and it used to bug me no end, because even I have a vibrato when I sing - but now, I'm not so critical about that.  It's what a song says to me that makes me love it or ignore it.  This song says something to me. Not sure what yet, so I'll need a few more listens. It's very melodic, though, which is a huge plus. And it makes me feel good. {#Sunny}

Maybe he cut his musical teeth singing in an ensemble where vibrato is verboten (unless you're soloing). Or maybe it's just a natural thing, as you suggest. (Presuming your're still engaged with us RPers from beyond, Cynaera; to think otherwise fails.)

Way to put it.
Rest well Cynaera.

I love this song.

Yawn...nothin special...{#Confused}
Okay - whoever originally posted these lyrics is clearly not internet-savvy. They shout, they don't use punctuation of any type.  But, here they are. Have fun slogging through them.  I still like this song, even though I can't make much sense out of these heiroglyphics. {#Lol}

Every bit as awful as Sun Volt........
I cant find anything appealing about this song.

  I know, I'm trying to like this song — it's semi-decent — but I keep hearing Son Volt-Drown in the back of my head while this is playing..... (which is NOT a good thing)  {#No}

Jay! What the heck are you saying?
"Raise my hand for the wrongs"?
"Raise my hand for the rolls"?
"Raise my hand for the Rons"?

Its an arty euphemism for, "I raise my finger to the trolls. . . "

Although they have gone in different directions, I really like both Farrar and Tweedy.  I don't have this album yet though, so really nice to hear a track.

I guess his diction fell off and he's proud of it.

Completely agree. Tweedy doesn't hold a candle to Farrar. He does have a great publicist however.

They are both great and they are not in competition with one another.

We're in agreement on that one, the guy is really good. Not to be neg but he blows Jeff Tweedy out of the water in my opinion.

Son Volt reunited, at least temporarily for gigs at the South by Southwest music festival here in Austin last week. I don't know if they are planning other gigs or not. Sadly, I missed the show!
They are back together and as good as ever -- well, at least Farrar and another group. He's fantastic. The new CD is great, and they were very much ON in concert -- saw them 2 weeks ago.

Just listen to it more. I had the exact same reaction to the album at first. Sebastopol's a very dense record with alot of tracks to get through. It takes some effort but after awhile its subtle greatness, from start to finish, starts coming clear.
Stated perfectly. It took me years to really get into Sebastapol but now I really like it. Upon initial listens I had trouble sticking through it to the end because it is dense with material. Nowadays I know what to listen for.

sounds like a happy elliott smith.

man, i love this song!
Farrar is good but his voice starts to drone over the course of a sitting - Sebastopol is a good enough record but something about his voice ..... :?: :-k
It's good to see this guy expand his skills from his former career making slacks.
i'm usually a big fan of Sun Volt and Uncle Tupe... but this track just isn't doing anything for me.
still not a great fan of this album. i just can't connect with it like farrar's other work. i like terrior blus much better. but still, sebastapol has a few great songs.

I'm hoping MTR is correct, I love the stuff he did with Uncle and Son, but have felt that his direction has been meandering around in his solo work. Terroir Blues is a big listen that I may never get throught. How much effort do I need to fully digest Sebastapol MTR ? ?
Not that much - I love this album. Has a great feel and vibe. It's not that long either. If you like the Uncle Tupelo stuff, you will like this album. Give it a go! :D

This is my favorite song from \"Sebastapol\". Thanks for playing it.
he\'s got a new one out called \"terrior blues act\". it\'s not as upbeat as \"sebastapol\", but there\'s a song called \"california\" on it that would sound good here on paradise.
Here\'s to Farrar and his excellent albums through all these years. How about hearing some Uncle Tupelo? I believe it\'s still his (and Tweedy\'s) best work
i really liked this song......big wilco fan too.... i\'m gonna have to pick this one up......

Is it just me or does this guy sound like the TMBG vocalist? Q
hey, it's my song. i think i'm being placated... great song, though. the album was dissapointing, i expected a lot more from the frontman of both uncle tupelo and son volt, but there are a couple gems on it.
