Pardon my ignorance, I just heard three different versions in (seemingly) rapid succession. Each version was just as clumsy as the other, so I assumed I had yet to hear the original. Further assumed the original was from some broadway musical.

Kind of lacks the bite of the Jam version . . . sort of a necessary ingredient.

An interesting version of the song. One of Weller, Foxton, and Buckler's best. Too bad The Jam never got the attention they deserved here in the U.S.

One of the GREAT Jam songs!!!!!! Thanks for playing this version...have not heard it before....I also like Billy Bragg's version.
More Jam, yeah! Down in the Tube Station at Midnight is a personal favorite
