Looking from a window above
It's like a story of love
Can you hear me?
Came back only yesterday
I'm moving farther away
Want you near me

All I needed was the love you gave
All I needed for another day
And all I ever knew
Only you

Sometimes when I think of her name
When it's only a game
And I need you
Listen to the words that you say
It's getting harder to stay
When I see you

All I needed was the love you gave
All I needed for another day
And all I ever knew
Only you

All I needed was the love you gave
All I needed for another day
And all I ever knew
Only you

This is going to take a long time
And I wonder what's mine
Can't take no more (can't take no more)
Wonder if you'll understand
It's just the touch of your hand
Behind a closed door

All I needed was the love you gave
All I needed for another day
And all I ever knew
Only you

Definitely after he left Depeche Mode. Upstair's at Eric's was 1982, Speak and Spell was 1981.
:nodhead: Vince Clarke left Depeche Mode prior to them really doing anything on the charts. He was with Yaz right afterwards.

Great song from a fantastic CD. The drums may sound old, but I get this twinge of nostalgia every time I listen to it.
There are drums?

"after leaving Depeche Mode" are you positive ? I would put money on this being before Depeche Mode, I was spinning this CD in the Mid 80's. with the main tune goodby 70's

An experiment for Vince Clarke, after leaving Depeche Mode, and before Erasure, but still without doubt a classic in the beginnings of eletronica/pop. Alison Moyet's voice is great, but this song isn't the greatest showcase for either of their talents.

horrible. couldn't stand it then.
I bet this song was groundbreakingly unique at one time, and that one time seems to have a lot of nostalgia tied to it for most of us. Wish it didn't remind me so much of the theme song from that cartoon "The Little Prince."

Good stuff, but I like Alison's solo version better.
Me, too.
:nodhead: Maybe someone can convice Alison and Vince to reunite?
Can I rate this an 11? So many memories attached to this song!!
Oh, way back when in college!!!! Still as good!!!
YAZ-sir-ree Bob!

Nice blast from the past! Reminds me Eollege in 87 and of Breckenridge in '88. There is a bar in BreckenRidge called Erics and I think it is DOWNSTAIRS.
Yaz. Cool Name, cool sound, cool voice. Cool. 9.
Good stuff, but I like Alison's solo version better.
Reminds me of freshman year of college. Good memories.

this feels like it was played in some movie...yes?
The most recent one that comes to mind is "Can't Hardly Wait".

I suppose I should encourage this sort of behavior, but this just cracked me up! ;^)

Alison Moyet is amazing. Kudos RP for adding this to the playlist. Does anybody have trax to upload from her solo work?
I tried uploading "Invisible" a while back, but it got a "sorry".

Wow!!! Didn't know this had made it onto the RP playlist. One of my all time favorite songs, a very pleasant surprise on this morning when I couldn't sleep. In Europe, I believe Yaz was known as Yazoo (as Richard posted before me). Here in the U.S. this song appeared on Yaz's album "Upstairs At Eric's" (titled the same as the Yazoo album). Alison Moyet's voice is one of my favorite female voices ever... wish I could sing like her. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for whoever uploaded this!!!!
Yazoo... from this album
is this a new add? not a particularly new song... the fun never stops here at radio paradise.

Nostalgia probably caused me to rate this song so high, but nostalgia sure tastes sweet.
RP has been playing Bernie Williams for to long without showcasing the musical talents of the Red Sox most musical outfielder. Finally the beautiful sounds of Yaz on RP.
