(Hoyt Axton - David P. Jackson)
A woman that I know just came from Colombia
She smiled because I did not understand
Then she held our some marijuana, ha, ha
She said it was the best in all the land.
And I said, no, no, no, no, I don't smoke it no more
I'm tired of wakin' up on the floor
No thank you please it only makes me sneeze
And then it makes it hard to find me door.
A woman that I know just came from Majorca Spain
She smiled because I did not understand
Then she held out a ten pound bag of cocaine
She said it was the best in all the land.
And I said, no, no, no, no, I don't sniff it no more
I'm tired of wakin' up on the floor
No thank you please it only makes me sneeze
And then it makes it hard to find me door.
A man I know just came from Nashville Tennessee-o
He smiled because I did not understand
Then he held out some moonshine whiskey oh oh
He said it was the best in all the land.
And I said, no, no, no, no, I don't drink it no more
I'm tired of wakin' up on the floor
No thank you please it only makes me sneeze
And then it makes it hard to find me door.

The first version of this song I'd ever heard was Ringo Starr's - I probably would have never heard it otherwise. I love hearing the original from Hoyt Axton (who also wrote "Joy to the World" which was covered by Three Dog Night.) Apologies if someone else already posted these factoids - I didn't scroll through (I am a bad, bad person.)
Ha ha ha! Remember when drug abuse was comical?
Neither do I.
Neither do I.

don't worry Romeo, I like Ringo' version better too. Although this is good too.

I'm afraid I can only tell you how to get away from them—move three states away and don't look for them. Otherwise don't worry, they'll find you.
How does one go about meeting these types of folks?

Fitting. I think it's Chong's 73rd bday!

Me too! They can play "The Pusher" after this.
Love the Cheech and Chong cameo.

I'd forgotten about this song. Hilarious!
I feel like I need to go to a meeting after this set! :)
For fans of this, I recommend some of Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show with songs like "Acapulco Goldie", "Roland the Roadie and Gertrude the Groupie", "The Cover of the Rolling Stone", "Penicillin Penny", "Freakin' at the Freakers' Ball", and "Don't Give a Dose to the One You Love Most". And also Shel Silverstein's solo works like "Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout (Would Not Take The Garbage Out)", "The Smoke-Off", "I Got Stoned and I Missed It" and "Bury Me in My Shades".

>>Ringo Starr's cover of Hoyt Axton and David Jackson's "No No Song" was included on his 1974 album Goodnight Vienna. It was a number-one hit in Canada<1> and a number-three hit in the US. The song describes progressive attempts to sell Colombian marijuana, Spanish cocaine and Tennessean moonshine to a recovered addict who refuses it all. Providing background harmony is the inimitable voice of Harry Nilsson.
funny hour ?
I don`t want to hear that stuff anymore ?
Its holidaymusic...

Never heard Hoyt's version, only Ringo's. I knew he wrote it, I like his version better!
edit: Hoyt's version. that is. Wow, what a poorly constructed sentence (above)
