You accuse me of fancy talk
When i'm just trying to find my words
You've got a funny way of saying my name
Like i just ripped it off

These whiskey tango ghosts
Won't leave us alone
But you are too polite to complain
Of the art of speaking plain
I haven't gathered a thing

While I know we're dug in deep here
Why can't we live high with the wind
You're just a freckle away from changing everything
I'll make this easy
By calling on my gypsy pedigree

These whiskey tango ghosts
Won't leave us alone
Of the art of speaking plain
I haven't gathered a thing

While i know we're dug in deep here
Why can't we live high with the wind
Can't we live

Of the art of making waves
I had my lesson in spades
And these ghosts they make it plain
They're never going away

And my ghost she makes it plain
I haven't gathered a thing
Though I know we're dug in deep here
Why can't we live high with the wind
Can't we live

Pretty abrasive vocal delivery in this one. Not loving it.

Yes! LOL Me too, I have that same experience! Personally I am not so fond of these ever same whispering girlie voices. Get a bit uneasy feeling from that, that fake sweetness... I mean: Get real, you're a woman, not a girl! (Saying that as a woman to a woman) And if you still sound like a 12 year old, maybe it's time to start reconsidering it why you still do that. And no, that is not your voice. It's what you've made of it.

It's not rich, it's poor. Very poor. Mostly whispering and sounds like a child of 6 trying to sound still younger and more vulnerable than that. I wish to affiliate myself with the men who do not like this kind of thing. On a late-night radio show, I learned that women with childlike speaking voices are usually if not always victims of C.S.A., and I do not mean the Confederate States of America either. That is sad, but it makes my flesh creep all the more, knowing that, when I hear this kind of female singer. In a book recently, I read that female voices that are lower are heard better by people with hearing impairments. Will come back and edit this to add the title if I locate the book. If you heard it on a 'late night radio show' it's got to be true.  I'm sure their research methods were painstaking.

Ahhh....and I was wondering where the Foxtrot was at in this track.

Go Doula, girl.
Anything related to Kristin Hersh deserves at least a 7.
Looking at all of her work, I think she's a real rock 'n roll woman. The lyrics here are fairly insightful, and no, her voice isn't that breathy.
no.
Look, she is very pretty and all that.  Yeah, yeah.  Nice voice too.  Except — the little girl voice has run its course with me.  I'm not kidding, it gets old, Bill, very old to hear the breathy phrasings of women trying to be demure, when they'd basically love to scratch the eyes out of that dude.  Ya know?  Just sayin...'  {#No}

So sayeth the 107 year-old genderless person. The song, so-so. The latter I disagree. Simple is OK and so is intellectual, complex and complicated!

I think rKokon means Child Sexual Abuse. I also think rKokon is reading way too much into this. Stay away from yak-yak shows and pop-psycologists, pal!

Touche! viva la viva. Am listening to Taj Mahal (truly the better of the best) and confirm we don't dig beyond beyonce, very much, so don't bother oz with your lame stuff.
I like how the 7 votes outnumber all next closest competitor by more than double. Maybe that means this song is a 7.
I loved Belly's music. This is disappointing compared to that.

Simply Beautiful Tanya
I've been listening to her for 15 - 16 years. From the Throwing Muses to Belly to her own solo music, Tanya Donelly is talented beyond belief.
All I can say is, you *go* girls! 4:29 pm - Tanya Donelly - Whiskey Tango 4:27 pm - Neko Case - Hold On, Hold On 4:23 pm - Snow Patrol w/ Martha Wainright - Set The Fire To The Third Bar 4:19 pm - Joan Osborne - Brokedown Palace
I like the sound of her voice. Too rich to be annoying.

Not often you see a sexist comment from a woman, but here's one. She's got to be about 40 because she's been releasing great music since the mid-80s. Where have you been?

have you seen what she looks like? i don't think it's her voice!
is it me or does her voice sound a lot like Lisa Loeb?

glad to see the founder of Belly still going strong. pretty song.
i like her voice...
Bless you RP! I adore Tanya...and this song.
Tanya be good!
Very nice tune.
I thought I liked Tanya pretty well, but following Niko Case?...
paul anka is going to be in reno on Dec 30
So far, I like it. (I'm turning it up now). It has a crisp production. Not quite over-done. Her voice is really angelic. disclaimer: This is purely the opinion of the one who happens to be right.
whiskey tango is a common adjective here in the south used to describe White Trash. see also Papa Whiskey Tango/ Poor White Trash.
