You're so fine
I want you all and everything
Just to be mine
'Cos you're my baby
'Cos you're my love
Girl I'm just a Jeepster
For you love
You slide so good
With bones so fair
You've got the universe
Reclining in your hair
Just like a car
You're pleasing to behold
I'll call you Jaguar
If I may be so bold
The wild winds blow
Upon your frozen cheeks
The way you flip your hip
It always makes me weak
Your motivation
Is so sweet
Your vibrations
Are burning up my feet
Girl I'm just a jeepster
For your love
Girl I'm just a vampire
For your love
I'm gonna suck you
Sadly, Marc Bolan's tragic early death is often forgotten since he was just outside of the "27 club", dying just shy of his 30th bday.
I was just barley 6 months old when he died, and vaguely remember hearing his music as a kid. I've grown to really like this song, and several other T.Rex tracks, though the sad and ironic life that was Marc Bolan still gets me in the feels.
Long Live RP and the memory of Marc Bolan!!
Small part of his Wiki article:
Bolan never learned to drive, fearing a premature death.[51][52] Despite this fear, cars or automotive components are at least mentioned in, if not the subject of, many of his songs. He also owned a number of vehicles, including a white 1960s Rolls-Royce that was loaned by his management to the band Hawkwind on the night of his death.[53][54]
On 16 September 1977, Bolan was a passenger in a Mini 1275GT driven by Gloria Jones as they headed home from Mortons club and restaurant in Berkeley Square. After she crossed a small humpback bridge near Gipsy Lane on Queens Ride, Barnes, southwest London, the car struck a fence post[55] and then a tree.[56][57] Bolan was killed instantly, while Jones suffered a broken arm and broken jaw.[55][57]
Thank You for the info!
Totally COOL!!

I lived through those times living in South London while working as a DJ. I played this a LOT and EVERYONE loved it.
You sir, must have been living in an isolated PIMPLE of male dominated society.
I hope you have been able to SQUEEZE your way out.

While the Jorge Santana connection was productive in terms of input, it didn’t result in a sale. That would come shortly thereafter when John using the same surreptitous entrance technique went to a T-Rex gig, and made his first sale. Or actually first two sales.
Veleno recounts his meeting with the eccentric Mark Bolan with amusement. “I got into the soundcheck that afternoon,” recalls John, “and started to polish my guitar. Mark Bolan came over to look at the guitar and asked me to go to his motel with him after the show. We went back to his room and he got down on his knees to inspect the guitar. He loved the guitar and said, ‘I want two, one for me and one for my good friend Eric Clapton.'”
“Okay,” said Veleno in a deadpan voice, who had no idea who Eric Clapton was.
“Don’t you know who Eric Clapton is?,” exclaimed Bolan in amazement. “My best friend is the greatest guitarist in the world.”
“No,” replied Veleno, thinking to himself that everyone says his friend is the best guitarist in the world. He’d heard that claim before.
Bolen began rolling around on the floor laughing hysterically. “I can’t believe someone who makes guitars doesn’t know who Eric Clapton is!”
Bolan gave Veleno the shipping address for the guitars, which was in care of Warner Brothers studios in California. “Gee,” thought Veleno, “these guys really are in show business!”
“My daughter Michelle was in college at the time,” adds Veleno, “and when I went home and told her I’d just sold two guitars to T-Rex and Eric Clapton, her awed response was ‘Wow, Eric Clapton is the greatest rock and roll guitarist in the world!’ I realized Bolan had been right. That’s when I figured out that I’d better begin to read up on this stuff.”

NO MAN or BOY worth his salt would have been seen DEAD with a T.Rex record in those days...
T.Rex was a TOTAL girly band....
ALL the girls loved T.Rex, but even when a guy secretly loved them too, he would NOT admit it even under threat of death...
IF a guy would have said he love them, one could bet on he being called a gay person in not so friendly terms...
AND - knowing your posts here I very very very much doubt that YOU would have admitted it that you were a T. Rex fan in 1972...
NO freaking way, mate!

Welcome back Stingray, but please check your meds.
thanx 4 the info but I new all that before, also Bolan told Bowie that he wanted to be bigger than The Beatles
I was just asking a satirical question in response to people that make posts about other songs used in Tarrantino films only being popular because of the movie inclusion.
At the time of this album's release my circle of friends all had this and other T-Rex records

I can save you a search Skydog this song and more particularly T Rex aka Mark Bolan were super colossally big in the UK during the early 70s. He had a string of number one singles and albums during this time outselling his close friend David Bowie. His fan base were hysterically loyal and while he never made it onto the other side of the Atlantic he was probably the biggest act in Britain between 1970-73.
Had you grown up in Britain and lived through 'Bolanmania' you wouldn't ask if his fame was due to inclusion in a Tarrantino movie.

That director is mentioned far too often in the song comments on this site (IMO), but I haven't noticed someone making such a claim.
The Slider album was also full of hook-laden gems.
I always assumed that was figurative, and I hope to continue doing so, hard as that now may be!
Sadly, Bolan is largely forgotten these days. I remember watching a recent Coca Cola ad that used T. Rex's "Mambo Sun"; as soon as I figured out the name of it, I went out and bought it.
Believe it or not, but Def Leppard did a really good cover of T. Rex's "20th Century Boy" on a tribute album to 70s glam rock hits.
RP is not only a great place to hear some relatively new indie-oriented rock, it's good to know that it is also introducing tunes like this that I've loved for years to new ears.
Austin - keep digging man.
And this is a great example of commentary I love to read here - thanks to all.
A Jeepster, for all you young whippersnappers. Post WW2, manufactured by Willys in an attempt to domesticate the outrageously successful war transport. ("Jeep" = "GP" = General Purpose ... ask any vet.)
great song from great album of great artist. 9
