I knew you'd find me, cause I longed you here
Are you my desitiny? Is this how you'll appear?
Wrapped in a coat with tears in your eyes?
Well take that coat babe, and throw it on the floor
Are you the one that I've been waiting for?
As you've been moving surely toward me
My soul has comforted and assured me
That in time my heart it will reward me
And that all will be revealed
So I've sat and I've watched an ice-age thaw
Are you the one that I've been waiting for?
Out of sorrow entire worlds have been built
Out of longing great wonders have been willed
They're only little tears, darling, let them spill
And lay your head upon my shoulder
Outside my window the world has gone to war
Are you the one that I've been waiting for?
O we will know, won't we?
The stars will explode in the sky
O but they don't, do they?
Stars have their moment and then they die
There's a man who spoke wonders though I've never met him
He said, "He who seeks finds and who knocks will be let in"
I think of you in motion and just how close you are getting
And how every little thing anticipates you
All down my veins my heart-strings call
Are you the one that I've been waiting for?

I'll enthusiastically second that recommendation. His writing this past year has been particularly profound.
And I will gladly renew attention for that recommendation of the Red Hand Files , for they are as profound as ever
whilst rating this a 10
sheesh
ring a bell?
it is beautiful.
sheesh
I love this ambiguous comment. I also LOVE this entire album.
I highly recommend it.

It's not flat, it's nasal.
I agree,
that really does work!
I await the inevitable chorus of "He did it again today!" comments.
that really does work!
My soul (sole) mate is lurking, right around the corner!
....and that is a wonderful soundtrack - some incredible tracks by many incredible artists! Soundtrack is better than the film. Before NC was solo he was in a punk|hardcore band called "The Birthday Party" which has some great tunes if your inclined to the intensity of that type of music.

I AM IN COMPETITION WITH NO-ONE. MY RELATIONSHIP WITH MY MUSE IS A DELICATE ONE AT THE BEST OF TIMES AND I FEEL THAT IT IS MY DUTY TO PROTECT HER FROM INFLUENCES THAT MAY OFFEND HER FRAGILE NATURE.

Awesome! Though I am surprised that MTV and its viewers have good enough taste to award Mr. Cave anything.

Should've taken a moment to compliment Mr Cave on this one as he waited in the next checkout queue (line) to me in Waitrose a little while ago.
First, I do apologise if you have just recieved two, or three empty, messages - my browser was opening new pages then immediately stepping back to last link...
Good spot but my shopping trip wasn't as a local.
On that day, last November, when I shopped in Waitrose on Western Rd I was on my way from Gatwick to visit at a friend's home on Shoreham Beach. I did live, further west along the coast, in Sompting but moved away in 1992. I recall that Nick Cave had a large bunch of brussel sprouts.
By coincidence, I'm heading that way again this weekend.
You do meet an interesting bunch on RP, I had another message from a fellow listener who thought I lived nearby as my location tag is "Halfway to Paradise" - he lived between Chico and Paradise in California and made some connection between me and the town of Chico. That tag is more of an allusion to the music magazine show aired on Channel 4 abt 20 years ago, it also had that eclectic thread running through.

Really? He was behind me at Nero's the other month. He does get about that Mr Cave.
Did you actually put effort into that play on words?

Beautiful way to sweep her off her feet.
Same here.
This isn't too bad...not the best thing I've heard, but I didn't mute it like I do a lot of his other stuff.
