Hello, I've waited here for you
Everlong
Tonight, I throw myself into
And out of the red, out of her head she sang
Come down and waste away with me
Down with me
Slow how you wanted it to be
I'm over my head, out of her head she sang
And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang
Breathe out so I can breathe you in
Hold you in
And now I know you've always been
Out of your head, out of my head I sang
And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang

A typo in the album title?
We need '2 meter sessies' back in The Netherlands now, including JDK
Rest in peace and power Taylor Hawkins....
the line "breathe out so I can breathe you in" has always gotten to me, as I was that spellbound by a woman once... many moons ago
There's a different acoustic version that is so so so much better than this Ally McBeal background version.
Not sure about this take, but the slower tempo and acoustic bring out the delicate melody and rhythm from the harder electric "standard" version.

I have an old MP3 that is a recording of this song on acoustic guitar and vocals only. I think it was done at KFOG. Great version. This one is good too.

Agreed - the earlier/other acoustic versions of Everlong feel more powerful and immediate than this particular version.

As limp as boiled lettuce.
The fellas might play this version in their retirement homes, but it really works! Love the original and pretty much that whole album.
It's an amazing song originally, and this version is good. Although I must say it's perhaps a little slow and miserable; like the song is chugging along to its logical conclusion and they can't wait for it to be over.
Where can one buy this fabulous version of this wonderful song?
This following That's Entertainment? I am in love.

They first did this live on Howard Stern. It was pretty cool.
We all have Baba Booey to thank for it, he told them to play Everlong.

The lyrics are good enough to where he can get away with this. Amazing song at any speed.
Never heard this version before, I quite like it.
Don't understand the hate for Dave and his band. He seem well respected by his fellow musicians.

Still good because it is a great song, but give me the roaring and flaming original any time over this diluted version.

Grohl is a talented musician no doubt - genius on the drums (see who other great drummers recognise). He's songwriting can be a little hit and miss but at its best is wonderful. He didn't play on the first Nirvana album though, he joined them in '90 after the debut (Bleach).
Dave Grohl a no talent (as some have suggested in comments)? Wow. Foo Fighers' debut album (the one with him playing all the instruments) sounded like a talented effort to me.
As for this version of "Everlong", I prefer the energy of the original.

Never quite got the buzz around Nirvana & this 'stepchild' (song & band) at all, I'm surprised they (both) got wealthy with so little talent. In the history of rock music, a marginal footnote in my opinion.

I really enjoy this song. I like the original better than this acoustic rendition, but still it's good stuff.

I like the other acoustic version better - still a great song though . Let's hear the other acoustic version please!!!
Wow, I was about to be super angry about who was ruining this song, but umm, nevermind.
Woah, haven't heard this one in yeeeaaars. Brings me back to high school.
"2 meter sessies" is a great concept.

Can't really say that the original lends itself to this treatment...
The "2 Meter Sessions" is actually a program hosted by a Dutch radio DJ by the name of Jan Douwe Kroeske. Many, many famous and also less famous artists have been on the show and left some really impressive live registrations.
So actually, "2 Meter Sessions" is not the correct name, it's "2 Meter Sessies", pronounced in English it would be "Tway Mayter Sesseas".
I don't know the "rock" version of this song so hearing this with a totally clear slate. I like it! Nice flowing melody with catchy chords. A 7 to 8 for now. Very good musicianship.
Oh, very nice!
If only there was an emoticon with a bored look on it's face while sleeping.
this is a snoozer.

Nice version. I thought it was a Pete Yorn cover at the start (that’s a complement believe it or not).
this actually is one of my favorite songs of all time. I'm all for "unplugging". However, this one just lost its pizazz . :(
Yep Dave does it again !!!!

This version works better than the big rock version.
This is a little dull - far too bubblegum for me!
accoustic versions of this song clearly show that it's a great tune and works pretty well with a singer-songwriter-sound, but the original rocker is sooooo much better for the ears
Decent acoustic - They do this live quite often.
Doesn't compare to recorded version. Perhaps best Foo song ever!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously nice alternate version. Some songs just work really well either fast or slow.
Nice version, as most of the 2 meter sessions are. I gave it a 7.
I like the energetic original better though.

Introduced to them 2 years ago, great rock artists.
Wow, this one is really striking a chord with me right now. In a good way.
The original is an all-time fave sexy rock song. This is a decent alternate. Never heard a live version.
I like this song, but this version doesn't contain any of the stuff I like about it...

I think the first one was on the Howard Stern radio show and another version was recorded for the Little Nicky soundtrack (if I'm not mistaken).

Dave Grohl came to a local radio station (WHFS) a "few" years back and did a solo acoustic version of this tune in the studio, and it was fantastic. I wonder if that version is available anywhere; this version is just mediocre by comparison.

There is a great POV video out there somewhere with a Ducati ripping up some asphalt to the studio version of this tune. I used to do the same in the San Bernardino's on my MH900, with Everlong in my ears — and that will always make this version drag for me.
Never heard this version before. Don't care much for the original, but this was Quite Likeable.
Beautiful. Usually I think the "unplugged" phenom is some sales tactic for uber-popular walmart bands (yeah I just said that), but this is actually great. Probably because it was not recorded at MTV's unplugged studio.

I enjoyed this. :)
there is much better music to chose from than this
What next? How about slow versions of all the Led Zepplin hits? Or better yet, how about slow versions of Metallica to cure insomnia. How to ruin a wonderful rock song.
Usually it's somebody else that turns a group's music into easy listening elevator music.

Hmm... intersting take. I've often thought about what if Kurt had lived and had allowed Dave to be the way for Nirvana to break out of the 'musical rut' he so descried; if all the great music from the Foo's had been allowed to develop inside Nirvana. If it'd become more of a musical colaboration and that would've breathed new life into the the group and Kurt.. at the risk of pissing off a lot of people here, had they been at their creative peaks together, we migh've had another Lennon/McCartney situation on our hands...
Though I think their ealiest music, which is still their best, probably grew out of Dave's experience around Kurt's death and Nirvana's demise), and then maybe we wouldn't have gotten THIS song, which would be a shame as I think this has got to be considered near or at the very top of any list fo the absolute best songs of the last 20 years or so...
I've never thought about it before since I have never been a big Nirvana fan but I do like some of the Foo Fighters stuff. I think you are right, Dave and Kurt colaboration would have resulted in some good and maybe original music. But then again, by what I have read about the Nirvana, since Dave was the new guy and Kurt and the bass player (whatever his name is) grew up together and where real tight, I don't know if Kurt would have opened up creativity with a new guy since he was so withdrawn and into himself due to the drugs. I say this as result of some interviews I have read of Dave's. There was not alot of communication between Dave and Kurt.
