My moon, my man
So changeable and
Such a loveable lamb to me
My care, my coat
Leave on a high note
There's nowhere to go but on
Heart on my sleeve
Not where it should be
The song's out of key again
My moon's white face
What day and what phase
It's the calendar page again
Take it slow
Take it easy on me
And shed some light
Shed some light on me please
Take it slow
Take it easy on me
And shed some light
Shed some light on me please
My moon and me
Not as good as we've been
It's the dirtiest clean I know
My care, my coat
Leave on a high note
There's nowhere to go
There's nowhere to go
Take it slow
Take it easy on me
And shed some light
Shed some light on me please
Take it slow
Take it easy on me
And shed some light
Shed some light on me please
My moon
The moon, my man
My moon
The moon, my man
My moon

Okay I didn't get all the lyrics at first but love the upbeat, simpleness. Feist can 'shed the light' on anything and make it brighter. Wish i could see her dance right now.

You know. I agree, it just may be about sex, but it could also be about timing it with her cycles (moons) either for getting pregnant or not.

Scour the web and youll find some more realistic interpretations.
I don't know why people have such a hard time dealing with the fact that this might be about butt sex, and specifically, about the internal conflict a woman has when her lover wants some form of sexual gratification that she's not comfortable performing. I think it's a great theme for a song, myself.
Now having said that, I scoured the web as you suggested, and I couldn't find two sites that agreed on the lyrics, much less agreed on the meanings, so the actual meaning is up in the air as far as I'm concerned.

It's a little (a lot) over played, but it is a break from the usual procession of oversensitive, new age devas one usually hears on RP.
Considering the lyrics discussion, there is a divine sense of humour in having verizon use the song as a commercial soundbite for selling their Chocolate phones...
From the song:
"My moon and me
Not as good as we've been
It's the dirtiest clean I know"
so what was this song about again?
Wow, what we read into things. Looked at the lyrics and can't figure that. Only way to be sure is to ask her. OK who's up for it? I suggest we draw straws.
Congrats to Feist for winning 5 Junos!

Not to beat a dead horse, but after reading some of the comments about the possible allusion to some type of intercourse, I figure I would throw my 2 cents in.
It's about Butt Sex.
Still better than 1/2 of todays playlist...
older yet
getting really old.
Getting pretty tired of this one...
Well maybe. But you still need to get out more.
I have read these lyrics twice thru and this song is clearly about having sex of some kind, anal or otherwise. Her reference to the calendar and the moon indicates that it's anal sex, because that's an ancient method of a) not getting pregnant and b) having sex during menses. Since there are other ways (such as the pill and a condom) of avoiding pregnancy, I think her boyfriend wants sex during her period, so she chose door #2. Yick.
I'm still giving this song an 8. Amazing music and interesting lyrics. BTW: "Shed some light on me" is a reference to the place where the sun don't shine. Now let me think...where would that be?
The hustling footfalls at the end remind me so much of Stan Freberg's Banana Boat (Day-O) that I make the association and can't really appreciate this song's ending. (Whatever it may signify.)
