The paraffin, for the fire
let there money burn, with our dream
Oh so cynically I retire
Cos I'm not running around, running around again

I know it's too late,
I know you will miss me one day
I know it's too late,
I know
I know it's too late,
I know you will miss me one day
I know it's too late,
I know you will miss me one day
One day

So throw our fate into the flames,
Memories just weigh you down
You're a liar, yes you are,
Cos in the day your just a match, but in the dark a star

I know it's too late,
I know you will miss me one day
I know it's too late,
I know
I know it's too late,
I know you will miss me one day
I know it's too late,
I know you will miss me one day
One day, you will miss me

Sometimes I feel like laughing
Sometimes I feel like crying
Sometimes I feel like laughing
Sometimes I feel like crying

I know it's too late,
I know you will miss me one day
I know it's too late,
I know
I know it's too late,
I know you will miss me one day
I know it's too late,
I know you will miss me one day
One day, you're gonna miss me

Pretty abrasive vocal delivery in this one. Not loving it.
Voice has a PJ Harvey vibe, thought it might be her at first...
It's been awhile since this song got a comment, so I'll add that this was a 6 and now it's a 7, not my favorite track by Turin Brakes, though I'm liking the feeling on this one.  Long Live RP!!

No, but it's fun imagining what it might be :o)

from 4 to 8 today.  Reminds of a an oil spill in the gulf of mexico for some reason.

Very well put.

I can see that. I also keep hearing a bit of Johnette Napolitano in the vocals. Only she's awesome and this...not so much. But not bad, either.

I really like this song/group.  Surprised at the low rating, so I gave it an 8.  Again, I like RP a lot because it gives me the opportunity to hear music I don't hear elsewhere.
Great song for morning work.  Love the guitar though, most excellent.
Matteo Lavaselli is the God of sick cats

I love this song. . .

Wow, everyone hears someone different... I though it was the guy from Cold War Kids, but toned down a bit.
I keep hearing PJ Harvey
This one is wearing a little thin.

I like it.  Kinda hear Gene Loves Jezebel in there sometimes.

That's EXACTLY what I thought--and it's EXACTLY why, try as I might, I just can't like this song. Absolutley despise Marty Balin, not just for his insipid voice. The song 'Miracles' is an unforgivable offense.

Sorry-- I was speaking of Pavlov's Dog back in the day. I never heard of Turin Brakes until it was played here.

Not unless he got over his helium addiction! Actually, my friends and I 'discovered' this band on vinyl at the used record store back in the day in the '70's-- I never heard them on the radio until decades later; we all liked it back in high school days since it reminded us of the Airplane and Rush with a different prog/folk rock twist to it.

not buying it

7-8 or 9. way out there with that naughty voice.
This song may be the worst one RP plays....and I bet I hear it three times a week. Plain awful. Come on guys- this shXX is not worth the airtime
just cool!
How can I miss you, if you won't go away?
The more I hear this song, the more I like it. It's one of the few instances of "pop" in regular play on RP....
This is a stronger song than the other one from this album. What is it - Dock/Duck/Dog On Fire or something like that?
much better than dark on fire...
I've never, since their first single, thought it was a woman singing. And I feel that his voice suits the music as well as the songs he's singing. Not all of this album's as convincing as some of their other stuff, but they're building a name for themselves, slowly but surely. At least he doesn't let his critics detract him from trying. If an artist find his/her true voice, and has fans that enjoy listening to it, then let them sing, why impose YOUR ideas and artistic tastes upon HIS artistic endeavours, you'll only end up criticizing them for lack of originality! Actions speak louder than words, don't you know...
Well at least you freaks and cowboys are entertaining, talking about Mike Tyson's great big crates. Men with real cOjones learn Spanish first. Ballzak wrote:

I tried talking to 'im but he tried to bite mine off. Besides, he's not trying to make it as a singer.

You sure that isn't MARY Balin? Or Maude or Martha or Marry Ann (busted for smoking dope at the age of SIXTY-NINE?? You GO girl!)?

Two days in a row? Good, but not every day good.

And also similar to 'Shirley' Strachan, from Aussie 70's band Skyhooks. Although I thinking sounds more like Pavlov's Dog, from their album 'Pampered Menial'. I'm digging it........

Sweet guitar sound. Reminds me of Gene Loves Jezebel.

Turin Brakes have had this sound alot longer than Silversun Pickups. Just got the SSPU disc this week and although it is pretty good, and alot edgier, Turin Brakes sound is alot more polished. And this is good. Solid 8 (for now).

I agree, although I like this album better than I have liked their previous stuff.
And here I was thinking it was a new track from KT Tunstall =) Very good nevertheless.

This is Turin Brakes fourth album. Although I have yet to hear the whole thing, it sounds like they are moving in more straight ahead rock direction with somewhat more polished production. Several years ago when their first record came out someone lent it to me and I immediately liked it yet didn't really know what I liked about it until many closer listens later. When I first heard Olly Knights voice I actually thought it was a woman, especially listening at low volume. It is something special and unique which, for me, is refreshing considering the sameness of many singers out there today. Of course, their approach to songwriting is what ultimately makes it listenable. It may be one of those things you either love or loathe. After seeing them live a couple of years ago I was truly taken aback by the beauty of his voice and the way it brought life to the songs. It's hard to remember hearing anything quite like it. It was definitely one of those "He could sing the back of a cereal box and it would sound good moments..."
Why are these marginal bands so popular here? Saw these guys based on the "Pain Killer" song (from the early RP days when almost everything was new to me), and they barely didn't suck. Sadly, this has been true with several bands I first heard here. Perhaps some "decommissioning" is in order.
This sort of blows. 3
It reminds me a bit of Stereophonics.
From far away in the office, I thought it was Uriah Heep, sheesh.
I like it - sort of reminds me of Chris Isaak somehow. Or not.

No comments? How about: Geddy Lee meets Al Stewart?
