Well, I'm going down, down, down
My mind is a wreck
My head is spinning around and around
In the funnel of love

It's such a crazy, crazy, crazy thing
I get weak in my knees
My whole head's spinning
As I go deep in the funnel of love

I tried and tried to run and hide
I even tried to run away
But you just can't hide from the tunnel of love
It's gonna get you someday
It's gonna get you someday

It's such a crazy, crazy, crazy thing
I get weak in my knees
My whole head's spinning
As I go deep in the funnel of love
Funnel of love

I'm in so deep

I tried and tried to run and hide
I even tried to run away
But you just can't hide from the funnel of love
It's gonna get you someday
It's gonna get you someday

It's gonna get you someday
It's gonna get you someday
It's gonna get you someday

Cruel.
Great voice
This song reminds me that The Raveonettes should be here on RP too. No "hearings" of them here ever, unfortunately - William?

yer at a SCOTS show!!! Most excellent band to see live, just so much fun!
Oh wow!  Haven't heard them in years!  Play on....
Always makes me think of Shocking Blue's Never Marry a Railroad Man (1967), though of course a lot of songs have this sound and feel.  (Shocking Blue did a lot more than Venus.  I'm probably just projecting some resentment at their being dismissed as a one-hit wonder [in the U.S.])

is that "funnah of love"?
Whoa! Crazy good. Makes the girls dance and the boys holler, ot was it the other way around? My head's dizzy
Play more SCOTS!
Oh good it’s Southern Culture on the Skids! Glad I didn’t have to take this seriously.
I never looked to see who this was when it came on. Always thought it was Neko Case.
I guess they updated the RP app. At least mine just updated. It no longer feels like an app. Just links to the website. Very disappointing.
I haven't heard the SCOTS in awhile.  I missed them :)

Thanks Bill!
Vocal acrobatics on offer here.
Long live SCOTS!  Long live RP!!

Buy it.  You won't be disappointed.  Dirt Track Date is a better album, as is Plastic Seat Sweat, but all their stuff is fun.

oh no! why do am I so enjoying this music?  why do I feel the need to own this cd?
With a quick glance I thought I was seeing some of the actors from Married...with Children.
Haha I thought it was Lulu {#Roflol}
I'm a huge fan of SCOTS.

Two other great covers of this song, btw, are by Mike Ness as well as The Detroit Cobras.
Reminds me of Neko

Neat tune! Wanda is a Wicked cool Rocker, and RP's DJ is doing an excellent job as usual

I have met her and had the honor of playing drums for her 65th birthday concert in 2001. I saw her again recently when she was made part of an exhibit on Oklahoma Rock and Roll at the Oklahoma History Center. She can still rock and is a great lady. I also had the good fortune to meet Mary Huff of SCOTS, she is great also. I met her, in of all places, an Oklahoma City Laundrymat a few years ago and got to talk to her for quite a while and I even mentioned to her how her singing reminded me a little of Wanda Jackson, so maybe, indirectly I had something to do with them doing it(yeah right, haha). One great song and two great ladies.
  Great backstory, thank you!

Wanda Jackson was recently on Dave Letterman with Jack White, and they tore up 'Shakin' All Over'. Nice to see a legend still showin' the young'uns how it's done.

OK, I want to say this so folks hear it: "GO SEE SCOtS IN PERSON" if you ever have the chance.  They are the nicest, fun-loving, energetic, and talented bunch of folks I've seen in years.  You will absolutely revel in their showmanship and the level of crowd participation.  Go up and talk to them afterwards, get a snapshot with them, and buy their swag.  Enjoy!

IICC, Mary Huff was just the bass player, and they taught her how to sing. Pretty good pupil. BTW, neat memoir.

A lot of fun(nel)
Holy crap....the singer is like this crazily perfect combination of Kate Pierson and Neko Case. I don't know what I like better - the song or the album cover. Thanks, Radio Paradise! :D

Nope, I rated this 2. It really turned me off. I don't know why. Maybe it's just not a style I like, which is weird because I like almost everything.

They are awesome live, lots of fun. Depending what part of NC you're from, you probably wouldn't have to very go far to see them; they're based in Chapel Hill.

Brings back memories of the all-girl bands of the 60s; only much better.

Google search shows the song attributed to 2 different people - Wanda Jackson and Mike Ness. A band from Athens Georgia named "The Jody Grind" did a version that blows this one away (IMHO). It's my understanding this is an album of covers, like many on the Yep-Roc label seem to be doing. This being said, it's another kick-ass album by SCOTS.

Sorry, a swede may not recognize that finest bit of subtle southern cuisine typically found at state fairs: the funnel cake. Visual puns aside it seems to fit SCOTS personality.

I would venture "retro' based on their Wiki entry: Southern Culture on the Skids, also known to fans as SCOTS, is an American music group composed of Rick Miller (vocals, guitar), Dave Hartman (percussion), and Mary Huff (vocals, bass guitar). The band formed in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA, in 1983. Stylistically, they gravitate towards the rockabilly, surf rock, country music, and R&B genres, with outrageous humor thrown in. The band attracted a modicum of national attention in 1995 with the release of the song "Camel Walk" from their album "Dirt Track Date". SCOTS music is generally very upbeat, as they usually write and perform songs about dancing, sex, and fried chicken, which are main themes in songs such as "Cheap Motels," "Soul City," and "Eight Piece Box". They are also known for their live shows, which often include throwing fried chicken and banana pudding into the audience, and audience members invited to dance onstage. As a general rule, they are not hostile toward non-commercial taping of their shows
We need a rating for "wtf"? I hadn't heard this before but SCOTS is on my radar from some of their other stuff that I've heard on RP and liked. I give it a "7". That may get higher on more listens.
..not so sure about the cover art... music is far superior IMHO bdwelch wrote:
