Bah bah bah-ah-ah''
Talking away, ah
No, I don't know what I'm to say
I'll say it anyway
Today is another day to find you
Shying away
Oh, I'll be coming for your love, okay?
Take on me (take on me)
Take me on (take on me)
I'll be gone
In a day or two
So needless to say
I'm odds and ends
But I'm me
Stumbling away
Slowly learning that life is okay
Say after me
"It's no better to be safe than sorry"
Take on me (take on me)
Take me on (take on me)
I'll be gone
In a day or two
Oh, things that you say
Yeah, is it a life or just to play
My worries away
You're all the things I've got to remember
You're shying away
I'll be coming for you anyway
Take on me (take on me)
Take me on (take on me)
I'll be gone
In a day
Take on me (take on me)
Take me on (take on me)
I'll be gone (take on me)
In a day (take me on)
(Take on me)
Take on me (take on me)
Take me on (take on me)
Take on me
Take me on
So..imagine that it's 1985 listening to this song on Walkman headphones driving a Volkswagen Type III down Interstate 80, in the hot Summer with windows down, and almost getting squished by tractor trailers flying by.
Why take such risks? I had to drive to a wedding with the promise of meeting single women and I was ready to dance to this song at the reception! The only problem was that I smelled like gasoline...typical problem of the Type III.
did you see a purple '78 Regal (with open headers and a 400 cid Chevy SB) fly by cranking AC/DC?
that was me!.....get in the right lane where you belong
How many more bands will be put down by the "music snobs" who seem to think they have the authority to say what's good or bad?
A solid 8 from me. I like ALL music!

Metallica doing Take On Me.
They had quite a few hits in Europe.
This comment is proof that absolutely every band of every genre of any era has a fan who thinks the early stuff is better.
Technically, I meant to say their later stuff (East Of The Sun, West Of The Moon), and I ended up changing my earlier comment to reflect that. As for the gist of your comment, sure, I can see that, just like I can see the opposite. Everyone perceives music in their own way and all of this so subjective that you would not be wrong regardless of your opinion - it only matters how you perceive it.
Now 33 years later, I can comfortably sing along with the entire tune. I'm a little more embarrassed for liking it and I'd rather listen to some of A-ha's older stuff, but this can still bring a smile to my face.

I was going to suggest the screech of a 56k modem, but they've gone the way of the AOL disc.
LMAO cause I was just thinking that
One of the most memorable '80s tunes. A big hunk of tuneful, catchy, thumping danceteria cheese. Always a fav! Play it again, Bill! I like watching him bash his head against the wall.

Just simply enjoying the song for what it is....a great song!

and still one of the most creative, inventive videos ever. made. This version is nevertheless interesting because it's not the mainstream one. First time I've heard these extended intro and bridges, it makes those fabulous keyboards sound even greater.

Every single time I hear this song!
And for anyone curious…

Is there a contest going on for the wordiest version of "I don't like this"? If so, this must be one of the leading entries.
souvenirs souvenirs.
Oh well, it's over now. And it only hurt a little.
.This long version is great...

Tchoons ov my yoof (etc.)
Me too. This is POP music, albeit perhaps a longer version? It's the first song on my IPOD by artist, and pops up regularly at home.
Can't say it's not uplifting, so I'll give it my vote.

Can a digital file collect dust?
Digital dust. It's everywhere.

Shearwater's Backchannels followed by A-Ha. Not at all surprising to me.

And one month later again.
It´s really strange to hear it here. Not match.

Played it again! At least this time Bill talked over the last minute of it, to keep things interesting...
Can't wait to hear it again in April 2023.

I like it.

I listened to their debut record about 1000 times – good memories. A friend played a few tunes off a record that was release about 5 or 6 years ago, I think, and I thought it was very good. Who knew.

Solid 9
I always stop and listen to this one. It's an energizing tune!

"Chris, where have you been?"
"I DON'T KNOOOOOOOOW!"
Yes, the music video has clearly held up better than the song.
lol, long time no hear...

I was about to exit out of it, thinking it was that MTV version, but then I realized it was SO much better! Thanks for the laugh, dolfan (and themotion) - I think I have to like this song again...
I like it.

Not long enough....

Almost died laughing the first time I saw this! Sure did love those MTV days.
This must be the only song on this CD.
what a range of music we threw shapes to!
blissful memories of a teenage wildlife....

That's the way to make some of us feel old—thanks! I not only had an 8-track, I had a transistor radio to listen to The Beatles when they first came out!

I can't explain why but this song really moves me. That chorus! I always turn it up. I don't think I've ever heard any of their other songs but this one is enough! :)
Ha ha! (I feel the same!)
My thoughts exactly!
I like the song and the video, but that's pretty funny.

Worth a chuckle ...
Always did like this one! 8.
Very 8, fantastic video.

It's an easy 9 though.
