I heard this song by chance back in the 80's and fell in love. I went to see them here in Toronto and LOVED them. I don't think they did anything after this, but I just loved their sound, and in particular this song. So cool. Definitely a 10.

Brings back so many memories of the 80s.  However it would not be out of place as a soundtrack song on "Californication" or some other recent LA drama show.  This album stands as one of those underappreciated albums of that time.  Great songwriting and production on this.

This should be played much more often on RP.  Such great songwriting, guitar work, and production.  Sure, it has a little bit of dated 80s sonic elements, but I like that. 

And the lyrics.  Perfect summation of the 80s.  Gather around kids, let me tell you about a ridiculous decade called the 80s.

No offense against the 80's; especially since I have adult memories of the era (heh), but this song is one of the few I recall as being worthy of the style.  I kind'a see it as a tongue in cheek sarcastic statement regarding the prevailing social viewpoint.  The counterpoint to "Like a Virgin" I suppose?  It said a lot about the mindset of the folks from that time; and kind'a set-up what became the smack-down of the "Vogue" era of the 90's when it all crashed in dot.com style.  But hey...life goes on don't it?

One of my all -time favorite albums.  I actually have had the CD for years and it's been electronically secured now in my ITunes library {#Tongue-out}.    I was lucky enough to see them live about a year after releasing this album in a small venue.  From what I understand they recorded all the instruments themselves for the album so had to hire musicians to tour. They were absolutely amazing!  The percussionist they had (I woman) was incredible.  Good memories....

David Baerwald has (or used to have not long ago) a fairly active solo career....tours around a lot...I've seen him in Austin several times....he's the one with this GREAT voice!!!

Actually David Baerwald (the one in the foreground) released a few really good solo albums, and was a founding member of Sheryl Crow's 'Tuesday Night Music Club"—-although she appears to have stiffed them after she got big.

EDIT: I was wrong. Baerwald released a solo after this ... Bedtime Stories. THAT was incredible. Can't find it. Must.
