Wow. NICE segue from the The Who to Muse! The tea kettle whistle transitioning to the Chopinian piano...nicely done!

Muse - masters of "borrowing" other's work.

They take so many riffs, motifs and ideas from others, it's not even funny.
Moonlight Sonata meets Genesis?
So beautiful...! Sigh...
Thought it was Radiohead. Nice.
Sclepped away with a few bars lifted from LvB, vocals by Thom Yorke..
This is fabulous!

How is it that it was made 7 years ago and I didn't know it existed until recently. Not fair. Thanks RP.
it took me about 10 comments down before I realised Muse weren't doing a cover of a Beatles track written by George and stolen by John and Paul. I hate it when the tracks and comments get out of sync
Lead singer gets very over-wrought at the best of times, but he's quite calm on this one.  I like it a lot.
ahhhhhhhhhhhh {#Daisy}

Love these guys...they don't make music on accident....
Hollywood needs to remake Flash Gordon and have Muse do the soundtrack......

They may have gotten to that in Parts IV and/or V.
I vote "NO"
{#Daisy} well i like them ...{#Daisy}...at least they make an effort ...{#Daisy}...not just same old same old...{#Daisy}

Interesting.   Thumbs up for originality

That is probably the most accurate description of Muse I have seen. lol
Love them or Loathe them they make an effort to be a creative force in rock music
I thought that was pretty nice.

If I admit that Muse is a guilty pleasure is that a complement or a backhanded criticism?

I always just deemed them "bad math rock", but thank you, that is much more eloquently said...

Just as this begins...there is rumbling from Ludwig's burial site. Beethoven meets Coldplay meets Keane.
{#Bananapiano}Great sounds, lets pick them apart!
Muse, or "how to copycat a dozen different bands". Horrible stuff.
Melodramatic but emotionally moving nonetheless .
A good cover?

Just a beautiful song this is.jeah they've gone over the top now with too much drama.but this song is from before that.saw them twice live, unbelievable good live band!
Okay, this just got me to turn the stereo up. That's a very good sign. A very good sign indeed. Beethoven meets (god forgive me for saying this) Coldplay. Oh well, I know somebody who loves Sardines and Peanut Butter sandwiches.

You must have intended that comment for another song, because of all the things Muse can be accused of, being "lightweight" isn't one, and "New Age" definitely not another - if anything, they've got an obsession with SF and much of their work is SF-inspired. This particular album is inspired by George Orwell's 1984, not known as a "New age" work of literature...

Reminiscent of Moonlight Sonata and Georgia on My Mind.

This post apparently contained an image that was dragged into the post editor. Sorry, but any text contained in the post after this point has been lost.
The beginning, before the drums set in along with the pathos, sounds a lot like Mono (Japan).
For me, starts out similar to The Delgados "The City Consumes Us". I always expect to hear Emma Pollock come in with vocals.

Vocal harmonies could be smoother... The contrast with the music makes vocals seem unpracticed.

Ehhhhhhh, it's pleasant enough, I s'pose.  It's got that soothing Beethoven-y kinda hook working for it.  Not a fan of the vocals, though.

Reading a few of the earlier comments, I see several that are derogatory. Personally I can't think why. Music appreciation is subjective and I rate their sound, and this track in particular, very highly. Also thought their set at Glastonbury a couple of weeks ago was outstanding. So superior (to my mind) to the rappers that were on. But, each to his/her own and I wouldn't slate their rap music... it's just not my choice. *Nearly* all other music is! Thanks for a superb listen Bill and Rebecca.

Can I hug you?  You are exactly what RP is all about - music appreciation. Whether we love a song or hate it, that we're here listening and commenting is just a wonderful thing.  And I'm with you - rap doesn't make me happy, but that doesn't make it "bad." That whole freedom of choice thing is getting pretty important in these days of censorship and political-correctness.

And then there's Stingray, who is in a class by himself (because he killed and ate all his other classmates.) {#Lol} (He knows I'm kidding...)

Very nice album! Like to hear more!!
I was folding clothes, and this song came on, and I sorta froze to listen... It's gorgeous. Not hip-hop, not rap, not disco, not rock - it's simple, elegant, beautiful, and perfect.

I love it.

Without his wailing falset'y voice I´d rate this 6.
This song does not appear to be available on iTunes, Amazon or via Grooveshark or anywhere else. Anyone know where to find it?
OMG. Cellos! And a piano that sounds like it's sitting at the bottom of swimming pool. Put it on the list with the rest of the overwrought cello/piano stuff. Ludovico, Apocolyptica, Glass...
With stronger vocals I would rate this higher than the #6.
Very nice!

Muse—-The Masters of Bombast—-
I just don't have enough information to know whether Matthew Bellamy actually takes himself as seriously as it sounds like he does on this song.  If he does, I think he's on the fast track to a pie in the face.
Just got up for a cup of tea (caffeine really).  This is undoing the desired benefits of the beverage.

God, I hope that's not true... 1999 was the year that brought us "Baby One More Time" and "Genie in a Bottle".

And I'm still totally hooked on this new Muse album.

Classical genius!?!  Please expand.

Sound like a Pantomime Band to me. An entertaining one for sure, but still a Panto band.

Imagine that I just fell a sleep and off my chair
Count me among the play parts 1 and 2 camp. Also, this album has pretty high highs (if you like Queen) and pretty low lows, but then you get this lovely, sweeping (if not a bit pompous, but hey, it's Muse - what do you expect?) "symphony" ending.
"Many of your guests have been wondering when they may be permitted to view the body. Where has it been laid out?"
Another vote for parts 1 and 2 to be played with this from time to time. (Part 1 is my preferred section.)

I agree. This has no context.

They just miss the mark with me....

I don't like that operatic rock sound, the only group that got away with it (sometimes) was Queen.
Nice tune!!
