Love what's going on in the bass department, very muddy and spooky.
A clear 2. Extremely irritating, as Fred suggests, but it's a pregnant irritation: one is left with the firm conviction that this will be even more irritating on second listen — indeed, quite possibly, as Fred also suggests, more irritating than Thom Yorke. Thus, we are armed with the knowledge that, as irritating as this may be, it may climb to new heights of irritation upon additional listening. Is there room at the apex of Mount Irritation — somewhere next to Rush Limbaugh, nails on a chalkboard, and, of course, Gotye? How big could the mountain possibly be? Yet, deep down, we know that this will ascend. It will be even worse next time. And it will get its richly deserved 1 and take its rightful place next to Rush, Gotye, and Nails. It must therefore hang fire with a 2.

I read this as "zombies rising from waterslides...". That was a funny image in my head. Look at all the happy zombies on the waterslides!
Shades of Radiohead - time will tell if this singer can be as irritating as Thom Yorke. On first listening, particularly the opening ah-woo-hoo's, it'll be a close-run thing.
On second listening, 3 => 8. Spooky sound. I see zombies rising from waterside graveyards in dark Louisiana swamps. Brrr!

yes, a solid 7 from me on first listen. also, was expecting to here a female voice. glad i was wrong.
Solid 8. It reminds me a bit of Elbow has that same melodious grit thing going on.
hear nothing of elbow in this whatsoever...but, hey.yes, a solid 7 from me on first listen. also, was expecting to here a female voice. glad i was wrong.
Indeed, a funky shadowy tune, what else is there?
First time hearing them and I want to hear more!
My initial reaction was WTF, but then it quickly grew on me.
I'm liking the steadiness of the bass and atmosphere overall.

These guys are really interesting. I think the singer's Swedish and the rest of the band is a mix of Brits and Americans. Don't know if they're still based out of brooklyn but caught them a few years ago when it seemed like they were on the cusp of bigger things. Guitar player let my 5-year-old son strum a few chords. Their older stuff is more rootsy, less atmospheric. Worth a listen.
Seen and heard in Newport, KY @ South Gate. Had a great time with Megan!

I'm such a freak... I have something of a zombie fixation and Fred... you comment immediately made my rating go up a notch. Repeated listens may lower that back down, but so far I really like this.

Pretty decent for a first listen.
