here is how music and art transcend!
Lyrics from Musixmatch:

With a hammer and nails and a fear of failure we are building a shed
Between here and heaven between the wait and the wedding for as long as we both shall be dead
To the world beyond the boys and the girls trying to keep us calm
We can practice our lines 'til we're deaf and blind to ourselves to each other
Where it's fall not winter spring not summer cool not cold
And it's warm not hot have we all forgotten that we're getting old

With an arrow and bow and some seeds left to sow we are staking our claim
On ground so fertile we forget who we've hurt along the way and reach out
For a strange hand to hold someone strong but not bold enough to tear down the wall
'Cause we aint lost enough to find the stars aren't crossed why align them why fall hard not soft
Into fall not winter spring not summer cool not cold
Where it's warm not hot have we all forgotten that we're getting old

And it's fall not winter spring not summer cool not cold
And it's warm not hot has everyone forgotten that we're getting old
And it's fall not winter spring not summer cool not cold
And it's warm not hot have we all forgotten that we're getting old

Songwriters: Stuart Duncan / Edgar Meyer / Christopher Thile / Aoife O Donovan

I sure wish we would hear more of Aoife O'Donovan and Chris Thile on Radio Paradise. Chris produces supernatural music from the mandolin, with Punch Brothers.
Song rates an 8, but the mélange of the classical artist and the bluegrass genre bumps it to a 9.
i was at a rodeo last month

but no goats

had to adjust my expectations, albeit not great
Just read that O'Donovan wrote this piece.
Just beautiful..

Woman singing is Aoife O'Donovan, with Chris Thiele on mandolin and vocals (according to our friends at Wikipedia), and he's also on the album cover.

Memories can sometimes be painful but also sweet. :-)

I'm Russian, but sometimes it seems like I was born in America 'cause I really groove on this sort of music/ In short it's cool!
A bluegrass yo-yo? Cool!
Checked it out from the library, trying to give myself a a little culture; bleh

Aoife O’Donovan from Crooked Still, another band worth checking out.

I've been loving all the tracks I've heard off this album :)
Hey, if you're YoYo, you can even stick your fiddle-bow in the ear of another player to see if it bothers him (it didn't) without getting a swift kick in the goolies.

Yeah, if these guys stick with it, they could be famous someday.

and it was worth the wait.  A MOST excellent album.

this whole album is very cool
I heard an interview with them on NPR recently. They sounded like a bunch of goofballs, it was great. Apparently they play sitting very close together, practically touching. At one point, Mr. Ma stuck his bow in somebody's ear while they were playing, just to throw 'em off their game. Nobody missed a beat, of course. They trade licks back and forth constantly too, following each other off into flights of fancy. Incredible musicians, and absolutely 100% unpretentious about it. Amazing.

I've been enjoying this for a few weeks, thrilled to see it here at RP.  Probably one of my top tracks for 2011.
Vocal by Aoife O'Donovan (Crooked Still I believe)

I was just wondering who did that vocal.  Thanks.  Great song.  I'd like to hear more of that release.  Saw YoYo et al promoting it on Colbert Report.  They did a coupla nice songs from it.

Oh, that explains it. I was almost going to ask if this wasn't really Crooked Still. Not only the vocals but the instrumentation sound a lot like songs on the Some Strange Country album.
I like this better than I thought I would
