In a garden, stands a statue
Of the man who won the war
His expression, tender yearning
Ev'ry nation near and far

Oh, sad and ancient father
Sweet as honey, tough as leather
Running down the hill on Christmas Day

I am an ape, I stand and wait
A masterpiece, a hairy beast
I move so fast, but take a chance
And come up close, I'm not a ghost

Navigator, when you wake up
And you step outside your door
Shoes and panties washed and folded
Taking off your dirty clothes

This garden tells a story
Amber close up, faded glory
Running through the streets on Christmas Day

I am an ape, I stand and wait
A masterpiece, a hairy beast
Try not to laugh, just take a chance
I visited, inside your head

If you trespass in this garden
To a place you should not go
If you step out from the shadows
See the city far below

I am an ape, I stand and wait
A masterpiece, a hairy beast
No need to hide, come on inside
I will not last, I too shall pass

So mysteriously cool and avant garde. Wow...I wish I could be so transparently innoculous....NOT!
A pair of ponces singing together = ponces ^2. Byrne is a one-man Pseud's Corner. TFF PSD
When did Byrne stop making music? Seems like a long, long time ago.
Ah yes!
After several listens, this is moving up ... it's actually quite interesting.
This song makes me feel nostalgic about the old glory days. It seems that for some artists those days are what matters most in their career. Not surprisingly David Byrne is one of them. Talking Heads is by far what he did best. I guess David knows this only too well...
I like it <shrug>. Best Byrne in a good while.

Never have so few gone so far with so little talent.

I hope the rest of the talking heads are sitting at home and laughing their asses off.

Byrne did have talent but these days he's just really hard to take. Really, he should be paying us to listen to him.

I really dislike Talking Heads and especially David Byrne. What is enjoying or redeeming about this dribble he calls music? Yes, annoying, monotone, and unmelodic.....please make it stop!!{#Stop}

What's up with his face, is the REAL question!

Likewise you could ask: What's up with his "music"...?

The album cover was inspired by "Beauty and the Beast", with Byrne as a "Buzz Lightyear-like" beauty and Clark as a grotesque beast.<9> The duo originally intended a plastic Beauty and feral Beast as a joke about the age difference between the two, but altered their idea when they met the prosthetics designer.<8> (wikipedia)

saw them in dallas
incredible show. really good pairing.
What's up with her face?
First song by this guy that I can actually stand.
You've got to take your had off to David Byrne, he never gets stagnant. There are some people who I forgive and love for doing more of the  sort of same - Tom Waits, Nick Cave - but I love David Byrne for always keeping moving. This album is a real grower. Keep coming at us David!

MASSIVE ANNOYING!!!!!

There you go admiring yourself in the mirror again.
My first impression on hearing this was "Wow... David Byrne is smoking the same stuff that They Might Be Giants are." Maybe that's just the rhythm and the baritone saxophone, though. In any case, I think this song is phenomenal. :)
I think this is interesting 'listen with an open mind' music. But then, The Talking Heads and Byrne have always kind of been a love 'em or hate 'em proposition. The guy is odd, but he sure doesn't try to sound like anyone else.
I really like this whole album.  There.  I said it {#Angel}
what the......lol!

Here it is, your daily dose of David Byrne, talking bollox. We've had Pink Floyd so Gabriel should be coming up soon. I'm ready with the PSD button.

And what wonderful bollox it is. Staying firmly away from the aforementioned button.
What's up with the lumpy cheeks btw?

Mhmmm. Refreshing. 8
What fresh hell is this?
MASSIVE ANNOYING!!!!!

Dig DB and the great thing about him is he is always doing something.

First of all, I like the song, so far.

However, my comment is regarding the list of musicians who worked on this album.  A quick count on the wiki page shows around 45 different people playing various brass and reed instruments alone.  Given how easy it is to do this stuff 'virtually' nowadays, this is impressive, and I think it can make the difference between a good album and a great one.

I suppose this means I'm going to be buying the album expecting great things.  I don't expect to be disappointed...
This is awesome!

All this guy does is a "1" for me!

Another example of terribly boring music!

Glad to hear this, just read a positive review in the current New Yorker. The comment was that St. Vincent complements David Byrne's voice
perfectly. Thank to Bill for playing it

Oh I hold a glass of fine wine to your comment. Kisses my fingertips. Couldn't have said it better.
I love this. But maybe because I feel like it could be in a Tim Burton/Danny Elfman movie, a-la Nightmare before Christmas..
Indeed.
{#Cool}
I like
DB is gold.
I'm sure the song is about something interesting and meaningful. It's offered in the fine traditions of the various musical styles this emulates, and Byrne's own quirkiness. However, too many listens would turn me into a...uhh, psychokiller.

I saw some videos etc from this project last week. That's some difficult listenin'.

Oh joy.  Yet more David Byrne.
So excited to hear this!
