Sitting on the park bench
Eyeing little girls with bad intent.
Snot is running down his nose
Greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes.

Hey Aqualung
Drying in the cold sun
Watching as the frilly panties run.
Hey Aqualung
Feeling like a dead duck
Spitting out pieces of his broken luck.
Whoa, Aqualung

Sun streaking cold
An old man wandering lonely.
Taking time
The only way he knows.
Leg hurting bad,
As he bends to pick a dog-end
He goes down to the bog
And warms his feet.

Feeling alone
The army's up the road
Salvation à la mode and a cup of tea

Aqualung my friend
Don't you start away uneasy
You poor old sot, you see, it's only me.

Do you still remember
The December's foggy freeze
When the ice that
Clings on to your beard was
Screaming agony.
And you snatch your rattling last breaths
With deep-sea-diver sounds,
And the flowers bloom like
Madness in the spring.

Sun streaking cold
An old man wandering lonely.
Taking time
The only way he knows.
Leg hurting bad,
As he bends to pick a dog-end
He goes down to the bog
And warms his feet.

Feeling alone
The army's up the road
Salvation à la mode and a cup of tea

Another case where an 11 doesn't quite cover it...
Another song where 11 isn't enough.

Great song but they are singing about dirty old men who hang out in parks

Social issues and social criticism have long been a part of rock and roll music. Aqualung has a lot of things wrong with him--a lot of things unaddressed and a danger to all, including himself. Notice the album cover shows the lead singer Ian Anderson as Aqualung. A sort of "put yourself in their place" move.
oh geez, the memories this evokes. Doing things I shouldn't have, to the sound of this album, lol
Doesn't quite make the "Stairway to Freebird" list, Bill?

We heard that
ICONIC!!  ...in high school, I always wondered, "what does this have to do with SCUBA divers"? LOL!  Excellent in FLAC w/ great studio phones, amp & DAC1!  ...much better than it sounded on the stereo I had in high school!

VERY TRUE!

Excellent!
Martin Barre's guitar is out of this world.

MARTIN BARRE on Guitar

Martin Barre is the G.O.A.T.
Most excellent!!
Martin Barre is such a solid player. Underrated in my book.

That solo...
Saw Tull in '75 in Buffalo.  Minstrel in the Gallery concert.  Tour bus from Toronto to Buffalo in out late teens.  Tour guide had his work cut out for him with a bus full of  booze and weed.

"Please don't drink or smoke any weed until we get past the border or the border guards will turn us back and that will suck"  Get to the border and we've all been good boys and girls.

"Please don't get hammered and stink up the bus or you're never going to get inside the arena"  Once again we behave ourselves, get in to the show and what a show.  There was a platform was about 12' above the drum kit that stretched across the stage with stairs at each end.  Band is ripping it up and Anderson would run up one side, across and down the other side occasionally.  Then as we're accustomed to his antics he runs up again, jumps over the drum kit and does a Superhero landing in front of the drum kit without missing a beat.  Seriously??

Back to the bus and once again.  "OK guys, best behaviour until we get back into Canada"  And once again we're good, well still ripped and recovering from the show.

We cross the border and we're in Niagara Falls heading home and the guide is like " OK guys, let her rip"  Best road party of my teenage life.
Saw Ian Anderson and the latest version of "Tull" last month- nice LA Venue, 6,500 or so in the audience. IA is 70 years old jumping around the stage like he's in his 30's - I haven't see Tull since HS in the 70's. Fun to watch. Mostly 60 and 70 year olds in the crowd, walkers, canes, etc. A great reminder of my youth........ 5 star concert!!
Wow first comment?
ok...

I saw Jethro Tull live in concert back in 1992 in Winnipeg.
I only knew two songs. I enjoyed those two songs immensely

This was one of them. One can't deny the brilliance.

Flute rock just ain't my thing, otherwise...
