Ain't it strange
When everything you wanted
Was nothing that you wanted
In the end
Ain't it strange
When everything you dreamt of
Was nothing that you dreamt of
In the end
Take my house, take the car, take the clothes
But you can't take the spirit, take the spirit, take the spirit
But you can't
Ain't it strange
When everything you wanted
Was nothing that you wanted
In the end
Ain't it strange
When everything you dreamt of
Was nothing that you dreamt of
In the end
Take my house, take the car, take the clothes
But you can't take the spirit, take the spirit, take the spirit
But you can't
Take the spirit, take the spirit, take the spirit

Watching my teenage daughter become a big fan of bands like The Cranberries and The Sundays has been a delight.
This song grabs me from across the room, every single time. Haunting.

None.
Best Dolores. Any argument?
I am awestruck. These lyrics speak profound truth. The voice that sings them is beautiful.
Ain’t it strange when evry ting you dreamt ove was nutting that you dreamt of in the end.

God Damn them for taking the talented from us.

Oh no, a few minutes to cry, no matter if the lyrics are happy or sad, just with her voice i feel so devastated!
Will always have a terribly poignant edge given her sad demise. The album cover only adds to it all.
Don't drink and swim folks... Another artist left us too soon. <3 Dolores

Alright Bill, et al... you've got me on the verge of tears with this set!
(I dreamt we spoke again, Living in another world, Ain't no sunshine, Until the morning, In the end...)
Now perhaps some John Lennon on the anniversary of his death to put me over the edge!

The saddest thing about this song is that it will never be heard live from Dolores. :(
RIP, Dolores.
This album received a LOT of accolades and attention due to the posthumous release. Sometimes artists get a lot of credit for a "brilliant" album only because they died while making or died shortly after. This seems like a good song, and hopefully the rest of the album gets attention as well. I just hate to see a band ignored by the music industry because they are "has beens", when they are probably still making SOLID music. Shame someone has to die to have this album show up on the charts.

Life is pretty robust, but a life is incredibly fragile. Rest in peace, Dolores.
So beautiful, yet sad in retrospect. She is missed

It is so wonderful to live in a time when we have recorded music available to listen to again, and again. It would be so disappointing to not be able to hear her wonderful voice. How great is it that despite her passing, we're still able to hear her!
. . and, as always, thanks RP!!

What a talent...to have lost her...it's just a damn shame!!

But your quote rings true regardless.

I didn't know this existed until RP played it ... and it wrecked me. I saw them back in 1993 when they had just hit heavy rotation on MTV. I remember being impressed by the fierce vocal delivery by such a diminutive Irish woman. Rest in peace Dolores O'Riordan, you left us too soon.
Haunting & lovely... what a loss.

What a beautiful song to end this all... End of an era. Farewell. :`(
This song has been growing on me in such a big way. Most of her career, it seemed like no matter what Dolores O'Riordan was singing, she never really sounded that vulnerable. Even on songs like "Empty" it was coming out swinging.
And then this, who knows if they mixed it just to yank on those heartstrings, but this is just amazing.

I doubt that they care about my reaction any more than I care about your rude response. Apologies to any Cranberries fans that do care, I just don't enjoy their material.
It hardly seems rude to ask the question (to paraphrase myself) "who are you apologizing to?" It's still unclear why you think there's an intersection of Cranberries fans and people who care about your opinion. But if you sincerely do think there is such an intersection, and you posted your opinion anyway, knowing that it would bother/offend/whatever those folks ... wouldn't that be rude?

I think this blows, for too many reasons. Sorry fans, PSD halfway through.
