It's been a long time comin'
Goin' to be a long time gone

And it appears to be a long
Appears to be a long
Appears to be a long time
Such a long, long time before the dawn, yeah

Turn, turn any corner
Turn and hear (Turn and hear) what your friends and your neighbors might have to say, yeah
Something, something, something's goin' on around here
Surely, surely, surely will not stand the light of day

And it appears to be a long
Appears to be a long, yeah
Appears to be a long time
Such a long, long time before the dawn, yeah, yeah, yeah

Speak out, speak out against the madness, yes, yeah, yeah
All I'm sayin' is speak your mind that is if you still can and you still have the guts to
Don't, no don't, no, try to get yourself elected, no, no
And if you do forsake this child you'd better cut your hair

It appears to be a long, yes it does now
Appears to be a long, yeah, yeah
Appears to be a long such a long, a long (A long, a long)
Such a long, long time before the dawn

It's been a long time comin'
It'll be a long time gone (Gone, gone, gone, gone)

But you know
The darkest hour, yeah
It is always, just before your dawn, yes it is

And it appears to be a long, oh, oh
Appears to be a long, oh, oh, oh
Appears to be a long time
Such a long, long time

And it appears to be a long, yeah

Poignant to hear this on the night of the election, before the dawn.

I prefer the Galliano version of this song but enjoy this one also.

I wonder if Hannio ever learned the actual lyric?

"But don't, no don't, no, try to get yourself elected
If you do you had better cut your hair, mmm"

No, Hannio didn't learn the lyrics or really know them.  This was just another one of his/her half-cocked utterances.  Par for the course.

According to the User Profile for the person you are accusing of "showing their age", they were born about three years before you were.  However, he did not accurately quote the lyrics.

i saw him perform once. i thought it was funny that he would sit there and have someone change guitars for him  . i saw fellow byrds mate, chris hillman, perform at the golden bear in hunnington beach, california once. he changed his own guitars and put on a superior show.
Did not age well...the song and Cros. Sorry. #-o
dot was once gone for a long time. it appeared he lost his keys. dot.
Just say No, David.
Pretty decent version of that song... surprised that I liked it. I usually don\'t dig on dinosaur rock. :p

Do we really need another version of this song? This tune was played out twenty years ago. ... ...

Aren't you thinking of BING Crosby?

Great guitar playing, and instrumentation. Well done song. But man, I can\'t get into David Crosby\'s vocal style. Too sloppy for my taste. Harmonies aren\'t tight. Generally annoying.
