My 39 year-old nephew J texted me recently to find out how my December was looking, and invited me down for supper and to stay overnight. He just bought a house, and his Cautious Girlfriend S has moved in with him but is paying rent, so as not get too much into the Commitment Thing. They've been dating for close to two years. His two brothers are married and in a ten year committed relationship, so he's bringing up the rear as far as that goes. I'm thinking of echoing the scene in It's A Wonderful Life by bring bread, salt and red wine. Should be a lovely evening.
I'm planning to spend Christmas Day with my ex-gf K and her NB kid, who insists on calling my their Step-Dad, even K and I aren't together any more (six awesome years, ending some time ago). I'm feeling blessed to still being a Step-Dad to them. :)

Nice that you still have a relationship with the kid. And nice that you will get to visit nephew. One year I got to see the window display at the old Eaton's on Younge street. Somewhere there is a slide looking through the animated toys to people peering in. Maybe I will find it to scan.
Southern hemisphere Christmas will be quiet for us. Traditional cold Christmas lunch with charcuterie and lots of salad, olives, cheese, etc. And prawns, of course. Frying some small ones up is all the cooking I will do. Did do a late sort of American Thanksgiving because that's when turkey starts showing up in the grocery stores. So a very late Canadian Thanksgiving or early English Christmas, I suppose.
