US House votes down tariff rule in rebuke to Trump
Lawmakers reject proposal by Republican leadership that would have blocked votes to challenge presidentâs trade policy The House of Representatives has rejected a rule pushed by Republican leaders to prevent votes challenging Donald Trumpâs tariffs, in a significant rebuke of the president and his allies in Congress. The measure proposed by Mike Johnson, the House speaker, was defeated on Tuesday with 217 lawmakers voting against it, including all Democrats and three Republican dissidents, while 214 lawmakers approved.
In a speech on the House floor on Tuesday, Democratic House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries accused Republican lawmakers of acting âlike nothing more than a reckless rubber stamp for Donald Trumpâs extreme agendaâ.
Pew polling published this week showed the vast majority of Americans against the Trump administrationâs tariff regime. According to Pew, 60 per cent of US adults disapproved of the increase in tariffs, including more than a quarter of Republicans.
Little glimmers of the old USA poking through. Like the grand jury decision today. Keep on keeping on, patriots!

The telling thing is that you use Biden's record to excuse trump's racism and don't either don't have the strength of character to condemn racism or actually support racism.
That was what we all took away from his response, I reckon.

For instance ...
In 2010, he warmly eulogized Sen. Robert Byrd, a former Exalted Cyclops in the Ku Klux Klan, saying he was âone of my mentorsâ and that âthe Senate is a lesser place for his going.â
And I'll say it again, if Trump wasn't POTUS none of you would care about the Epstein files.
That's the problem here. You assume we think something is ok because we are more supportive of Biden than Trump. In the two party system, or what is effectively a two party system, You have to make a choice. Biden was not a good president but he was infinitely better than what you have now. Part of the reason I think he was not a good president is that he didn't do enough to mitigate the impact of the trump takeover. He should have released the Epstein files. And yes, I did care about them when trump was not president and care even more given the horrifying things in this limited release. No one should be excused for taking part in the coercive, violent paedophilia.
Your point about Byrd shows both Biden's weakness and your inability to understand context and nuance. Byrd could well be a mentor in showing how the senate works while still being ex klan and a racist roadblock during his time in the senate.
The telling thing is that you use Biden's record to excuse trump's racism and don't either don't have the strength of character to condemn racism or actually support racism.
Ok, I'll play it your way. So you admit that Biden has a long history of racism.
You have just validated my original post. That Trump's "alleged" racism was not an issue until he switched parties and ran for POTUS as a repub and won, while Joe's "alleged" racism was never an issue before and after he won and became POTUS. That the democrat stance is do as I say and not as I do. With the aiding and abetting of not only the party faithful but the legacy media which is joined at the hip with the party and helped to cover it up and keep it out of the news.
The only democrat who raised the issue of Biden's racism was Harris in the debates. She somehow swallowed the issue and overlooked it to become his Veep. And that was the end of that.
So Biden's racism was never an issue while POTUS, yet Trump's is.
Please explain this hypocrisy.
Your deflection to Biden's record to defend Trumpâs racism isnât a rebuttalâitâs an admission that you're excusing Trump.
You repeatedly claim youâre not racist, but defending a racist makes you one by association.
So you agree that trump has a long history of racism, and therefore, because of Biden, itâs not a problem.

Weâre seeing that same nonsense with the Epstein files. Yes, trump was best friends (their words) with a child rapist and trafficker and pimp but there were others involved, too.
See, most of the world doesnât care one bit, and hates all of the wrongness. trump supporters say racism and child rape and kidnapping are OK because so many people were doing it.

Trump wasn't racist until he ran for President as a republican and won. Thus launching what has become to be known as The Cancel Culture.
And let's be honest ... none of you would give a rat's ass about the Epstein Files if Trump wasn't POTUS. Clinton's participation was well known before Trump was POTUS and it never got even a yawn from any of you.
Reading your posts is like watching Fractured Fairy Tales as if Edward Everett Horton had been a Fox News reject host.
