You can clean around the wound
But if you want it to heal
It just takes time
And you can call up to the moon
But if you want something to change
You've gotta change your life
And take your time
It just takes time
It just takes time
It just takes time
Hard work and your time
The sun will leave the room
Will leave you to the night
And that's alright
Because before the morning comes
There's a certain calm
And then there's light
It just takes time
It just takes time
A little trust and your time
You can change your life
It just takes time
A little trust and your time
And I can sit and talk
Because I was just like you
So arrogant and brave
Impetuous and blue
But trust me as a friend
And I'll do all that I can do
And I'd do anything for you
Because I want to see you through
It just takes time
Hard work and your time
You can change your life
It just takes time
A little trust your time
A little trust and your time...
But if you want it to heal
It just takes time
And you can call up to the moon
But if you want something to change
You've gotta change your life
And take your time
It just takes time

Saw FI/Sam perform on ACL and been a fan ever since. Hope to see them live one day.
Such a strong voice, it really fits the melodrama of the song.
Future Islands is always welcome to my ears.

Oh, and I love hearing Future Islands on RP at least once per day!
i swear this is plaid daily. maybe it's just the band that's played daily, but...
can they be retired for even just a week? if not a year or more?

Before making comments on this band it should be mandatory to see them live, a unique experience!
This band is my guilty pleasure

All I keep hearing is Rod Stewart's Young Turks. Had to do the PSD on this one.

LOL, now I'm going to be picturing Gerrit Welmers queuing up the "Elephant" preset on his keyboard before starting the song.

I always dig some Future Islands, but this track and the Grandfathers one are both getting a bit overplayed.

At the time this came out, I was deep into the study and practice of TCM. The jarring, prominent, repetitious squeaky sounds grated on my ears. I must say, in more recent works of theirs than this, I have really come to admire and appreciate them, especially the wild, irrepressible verve of the amazing singer!
Any interesting interpretations of the cover art scribbles? I see a 3-eyed dog wearing a baseball cap. Now pass the blunt please 😜
Do these guys remind anyone else of 10,000 Maniacs?

bumping my 8 to a 9 today, great lyrics, interesting vocals, nice music, and featuring an elephant...what more can one want? Long Live RP!!
Nice album art.
I enjoy the photo on the Future Islands Wikepedia page.
Guy looks like he's singing his guts out, giving it everything he's got.
Got curious, and Samuel Herring not only sings his guts out for Future Islands but raps his butt off too!

I really like that Bill likes this lot. I'm getting accustomed to them. I like the emotional drive juxtaposed with the electronic.

This album was released before their album with "Spirit", but it could be interesting to see what direction they take next.
I've come to like FI ever since I heard "Spirit." But, after hearing this (which I also like), I'm wondering if they'll go down the same road for me as Mumford & Sons or The Avett Brothers, whose songs I liked at first, but tired fast of their seeming recycling the same song structure.

A nice set of theirs just aired on Austin City Limits. The dancing is a little strange to watch, but the music is great.
