i think there was opium involved too

The Opium Wars came earlier, British companies grew opium in India and exported it to China because Chinese luxury goods (e.g. silk, tea) meant a negative trade balance for Britain. China made opium illegal and seized stocks held in the port of Canton, and were going to introduce the death sentence for anybody involved. War followed, and Britain won through superior ships & weapons, and were given Hong Kong island, and a free-trade agreement was agreed.

Great segue from My Morning Jacket!

I first heard the Boxer Rebellion on RP just a few weeks ago. I bought this album and it is a solid listen from start to end. Well done.

Great band but lost it after their lead guitarist went back to the States
Saw TBR two weeks ago in Hamburg / Germany as part of the Reeperbahn Festival (4 days): awesome show! It was their 11th(!) show here, no idea why we missed all previous ones…

It's okay with me as long as they don't do like Muse and pull a U2 with their sound once they become marginally popular.

Great morning commute song, especially for us fragile pedestrians in cities of moving steel
I just finished listening to this, only to dial into RP and immediately hear this most excellent tune again.  Great minds....{#Guitarist}
A soaring masterpiece that truly delivers on the band's epic, signature sound.

I like this upon first listen. Will probably bump up higher as I hear it.
Very interesting sonic direction for them here. Lots of reverb and trippy distortion, yet it's all orchestrated wonderfully, to dramatic effect!

I have become accustomed to the mundane and puerile inanities in life  - just tune 'em out mostly.. Yes well, Loife is like a sardine can - there's always a little bit in the corner you can't get.

That still leaves lots of insightful, non-repetitive comments for me to appreciate.

I think this song is marvelous...

This is not true.  A few years ago, you posted nothing but "we be dancing" and now you are making good contributions.  We just need less "we be dancing".  I am working on my own too, Lazarus.  I take a lot of heat too, you know.  This board is getting better and better.
Love this album art....the music is quite nice too

here's something fragile—

Olathe man killed by off-duty police officer outside Oklahoma City concert

OKLAHOMA CITY — Police said that an off-duty police officer shot and killed an Olathe man outside an Oklahoma City concert.

Capt. Dexter Nelson said Friday that Sgt. Paul Galyon shot 24-year-old Brian Simms Jr. late Thursday at the Farmers Public Market in Oklahoma City. Nelson said the shooting occurred outside a concert by Chicago-based rap artist Chief Keef.

Nelson said Galyon and another officer were working off-duty outside the concert venue when they saw a man who appeared to be unconscious in a car. Nelson said the officers approached and saw the man had a gun in his waistband.

Nelson said Galyon opened fire when Simms did not comply with orders and instead confronted the officers. Galyon has been placed on paid leave pending an investigation into the shooting.

The Oklahoman newspaper on Friday said Simms was initially identified by his sister.

“We’re angry at the police officers,” Mishellai Avery told the newspaper...
