In the ocean, there's a mountain
On the mountain, there's a forest

In the forest, there's a garden
In the forest, there's a garden
In the forest, there's a garden
In the forest, there's a garden

Gotta get in there, gotta get in there
Gotta get in there, gotta get in there
Gotta get in there, gotta get in there
Gotta get in there, gotta get in there

In the garden, there's a flower
In the garden, there's a flower
In the garden, there's a flower
In the garden, there's a flower

Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Got to pluck it, got to pluck it
Got to pluck it, got to pluck it

In the flower, there's a nectar
In the flower, there's a nectar
In the flower, there's a nectar
In the flower, there's a nectar

Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Got to taste it, I got to taste it
Got to taste it, got to taste it
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Got to taste it, I got to taste it
I got to taste it, got to taste it

In the nectar, there's an answer
In the nectar, there's an answer
In the nectar, there's an answer
In the nectar, there's an answer

Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Got to know it, got to know it
Got to know it, got to know it
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Got to know it, got to know it
I got to know it, got to know it

In the answer, there's another
In the answer, there's another
And another, and another
And another, and another

Slow down, slow down
Slow down, slow down
Gotta get in there, gotta get in there
Gotta get in there, gotta get in there
Slow down, slow down
Slow down, slow down
Gotta get in there, gotta get in there
Gotta get in there, gotta get in there
Oh

In the ocean, there's a mountain
On the mountain, there's a forest
In the forest, there's a garden
In the garden, there's a flower
In the flower, there's a nectar
In the nectar, there's an answer
In that answer, there's another
And another, and another
And another, and another

Gotta get up there, gotta get up there
Gotta get up there, gotta get up there
Gotta get up there, gotta get up there
Gotta get up there, gotta get up there

Like it or not, I'm coming up the mountain
Like it or not, I'm coming up the mountain
Like it or not, I'm coming up the mountain
Like it or not, I'm coming up the mountain

Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry

Hurry, hurry, hurry
Hurry, hurry, hurry

Funny, I'm the exact opposite. Welp, different strokes.

Like it or not. . . . The complaints just make me raise my score by a point. I'm running out of room.
Just changed from 2 to 1, absolutely disgusting

Good advice!
Love this song. It sounds like she's singing a prayer in a religion only she knows.

Well, probably not nothing, but certainly this.
Bloody awful
what is this?
I feel like she's seducing me..

That's exactly how I feel about it.  It takes time to get into it, but definitely repays attention.

Man, I dig Regina's take on the world...really interesting imagery in all her music...a pretty unique voice in a sea of  autotuned crap...

Agreed. I'm getting a bit obsessed and have to stop and listen when hear her voice.
interesting always and cute too (can I still say that?)
So good on so many levels.
I think "So"-era Peter Gabriel would like this song.
Gotta get in there…

It's totally hot!
Well this is kinda hot.
I like Regina Spektor, and there are bits of this song where I can hear that coming through. But overall, this one is not for me.
First time hearing this one.  i like it a lot.  I'm hearing a bit of Laurie Anderson. But I think I need to hear it a few dozen more times to make sure.
It's weird that I really like this song. I mean it's corny as hell, but yet I can't help but turn it up every time.

Think about it.
or not.
whatever.

rather an upbeat tune if you think about things

most annoying song on the interweb?!
How annoying. No.
Up The Mountain is weird so I enjoyed it upon this first listening.   I think after a few turns it might be annoying though.   Want to hear more from her...

It's "hoodie"... this is a promotional piece brought to you by the American Hoodie Manufacturers Association.

In all seriousness, well, this tilts toward a pop song so it's going to be at odds with the RP community, but it's very well crafted and quite good at drawing in the listener.  Regina definitely has some talent.
Ausgezeichnet

Amazing song, Mrs Spektor! Eight Points from a curious bee in France. Cause in the there's a nectar...

Love the  idea she is from Russia.. .. my western culture is  a bit tin eared to Russia.  Tremendous Art.  Ancient Culture.  RS flips it upside down and sings so beautifully.  Russia is  not a world power because they think art is something manufactured.  RS is asking USSR to look a bit deeper.  IMO.  This song just follows nature.  Why argue? Why fight it?
hurry
Gonna WHAT it?  Oh...pluck.
Love it.
is it appropriate to say she is dang cute!!
I love this song but I forewarn people that playing this loudly and grooving along to it in front of the regular people can result in a lot of "Are you OK?"

Hell yeah, I'm OK. Like it or not I'm comin' up the mountain. Extra warning if you follow it with Heavy Balloon by Fiona Apple and start shouting about how you spread like strawberries and rise like peas and beans it doesn't make things better in the eyes of observers. But I feel like both seem like anthems for those of us who sometimes trend toward the darkness. Very uplifting.

still loving this one...  it's fucking brilliant.
Nothing original to say except I love her and her music! So there!
I bet it is inspired on the flight of the bumblebee.
This is the soundtrack to my worst nightmares.
This is still a solid "nope!"
New Regina Spektor? This day just got way better.
Who's Harry?? Skip... immediately
Quirky, unique, catchy, brilliant. Typical Regina Spektor.
If you don't get it, skip it, but you're losing out on something.
All right! I'm besotted with this young woman! Shoot me!

Agree. My whole family starts making fun of this song whenever it comes on. Can't get to the skip button fast enough.

I like your take on this mark: A bee's eye view of the global project to reduce things to monoculture--hence, I guess, the hurry.

Some things I don't quite get though:

1) Why pluck? Bees don't pluck, they leave the flower intact. So is Regina juxtaposing the bees' sustainable way of doing things with the practices of the global monoculture system?

2) Who is coming up the mountain? Again, I guess that it's that global monoculture corp, because the next line is: "Hurry, hurry..."

3) The ocean? As in: "In the ocean, there's a mountain, on the mountain, there's a forest." I won't even try to figure this image out. Anyone care to comment?

Actually, I think she was just tripping when she wrote it. Think about it...
quite different, like Kate Miller Heidke
Yeah, no, this just doesn't do it for me, and I like much of her music. Two thumbs down/PSD.

If you are a bee, sure there is
This really grows on you and I gave it a 7 on first listen
The refrain in this song is vaguely familiar as a tune from a Broadway show

How would *you* know?

Great stuff. Love her madly!
songs have individual meanings for each of us… find your own. love this so much and I cant say why nor do I care to

A 'hard check' on my motives and aspirations?
I liked it the first time I heard it.
This is 2x and I like it more
I like that her upper register voice fits the persona of a small creature.
I like that it gives me pause.

This is bonkers (in the nicest sense of the word), I love it.
Ok dammit… this has got me real good! 10
I gave this a 9 since first listen. I just cranked it to 11 for the first time and I want to give it an 11, but I can't.
Her best work so far.
So I decree.
Very nice.
Thanks
LOL. OMG. Reminds me of singing 'Found a Peanut' on the merry-go-round as a kid.
Glad I didn't psd.
Weird but great, and super-catchy! I've just upped my rating from 7 to 9.
Reminds me of the Maypole song from The Wicker Man
interesting
this is cool!
Judging from the lyrics, Regina must be a bee.
It's great, except the "hurry " chorus. I can't stop myself from hearing hare krishna and waiting for that krishna =)

maybe for you...
Her earlier stuff was technically great and all, but WOW, upon second listen, THIS BLOWS ME AWAY... I just love what she does with her voice, her images, her playfulness with rhythms of speech and sound, and I worship the childlike sense of wonder and adult sensuality she imbues this amazing bit of fun with, using her obviously genius musical talents most wisely, uniquely, and entertainingly here. BRAVO, Regina!
Like Bjork before motherhood. Fun!
I definitely heard "In the nectar, there's a hamster"  which would of been a much better lyric.
The more I hear it, the more I like it! And I liked it a lot from first listen!
Has flavours of Bjork's soundscape which is a good thing IMO!

it's a really, REALLY, good track, but there is way, WAY too much repitition.  Write some more lyrics FFS!
Its Regina day with Black Betty!
Regina Spektor is a name I've known for a long time but never really known her music.

I came here after finding myself cranking up the volume. This is super weird and super cool.

I'm now thinking I need to explore her music a lot more. Thanks BillG!

Not sure I've ever seen RP play a song before it was released, but this is an amazing add Bill. Thanks!
This is kind of kooky. I like it!

I agree. She grows on me more every time I hear her.

Update four months later: so does this song! And I don't know why!

Advance singles often predate the album release...pretty standard industry stuff....not the time machine you imagined
Easy 6 on first listen, a 7 would be a stretch for me.
