Soldiers come quickly, i feel the earth beneath my feet
I'm feeling badly, but it's not an attempt at decency
And if you're well off, well then i'm happy some for you
But i'd rather not celebrate my defeat and humiliation here with you

Someone come quickly, this place was built for moving out
Leave behind buildings, the city planners got mapped out
Bring with you history and make your hard earned feast
Then we'll go to Omaha, to work and exploit the booming music scene and humility
And we've been talking all night

Oh god come quickly, for the execution of all things
Let's start with the bears and the air and then mountains rivers and streams
Then we'll murder what matters to you and move on to your neighbors and kids
Crush all hopes of happiness with disease 'cause of what you did
Lastly, you're all alone with nothing left but sleep
But sleep never comes to you, it's just the guilt and forever wakefulness of the weak
It's just you and me

The execution of all things

i can see the connection!
Sweet little bitter tirade.  Gets an 8 from me.

she does! i love it. good song. i always seem to enjoy Rilo Kiley and Jenny's solo stuff.

Love Rilo Kiley! Wish Bill had Portions for Foxes to play, too.

I discovered Rilo Kiley with Portion for Foxes in... Grey's Anatomy lol, and I'm not even ashamed to admit it! Great discovery, and happy to hear something else from them here!

Having listened to a lot of DCFC, I see similar cadence.  The tempo of Ben's songs are  slower but I can hear him sing this in my head.

This song prepares for takeoff and then.............it just sits there, spinning its wheels

This song and any Rilo Kiley, saves me from blowing my brains out. Songs with heart and guts and lungs and things that make them live, and make me feel more alive, that's why I'm here. Thanks for this.

This song reminds me of "We Can Get Them for You Wholesale" by Neil Gaiman.
first time hearing this

nice progression
I think of sheep when I hear this ..EWWWW
This song makes me want to implode my brain from the inside, and drag the world down with me.  Too much raeg.
Interesting...when I heard this I thought it I was listening to a song by Metric.

Great comment - and so true! That happy, bouncy melody and those incredibly depressing lyrics... Dunno whether to laugh or cry...

Had to look it up - I KNEW that was Jenny's voice!
oy vey. it's bad enough hearing Death Cab sing this way....

Really? I thought they never had any weight, ever.
If RP was truly eclectic we'd have heard SOME Michael Jackson in the past two days. Maybe a cover of Billy Jean?

Yes. Very.
What a deliciously miserable song!

I heard Jethro Tull had a weight problem, too. As for the tune, throwaway pop.

Hey Brandon, where'd you get that Jenny was overweight? She doesn't look overweight to me.

I am so madly in love with Jenny Lewis. (Hey Brandon, look - SKINNY!)

Yummy - a cute redheaded girl who can sing? I want one.
...stylistically really is what i meant, not a direct connection...

I'm not sure if you are getting at this, but Jenny Lewis did sing backing vocals on Give Up.

Say what you will, but I prefer this style of RK to anything I've found on their new album!
This sounds way to normal. Are they doing anything different here?
What an annoying voice.
It's like someone took a goth-emo chick out of junior high school and gave her laughing gas and told her to compose poetry.

Saw them in SF, CA, and they rocked. Great band, great tune, and Jenny Lewis is just plain beautiful

Jenny's deadpan delivery always kills me!

I came over to ask if this was a DCFC cover. I like it.

Liked it again...reminds me of a female Death Cab for Cuties. Quite likeable.
I like Roly!

Yeah, that's what I thought. Or a good knock off.
I'm a loser and can't get songs on the LRC, but somebody should upload Paints Peeling from this album.
