Don't you fight, don't you fight
When your death is calling for a ride
Close your eyes, close your eyes
You won't suffer there above the clouds

Don't you know there's only one way out?
And it comes when it comes
When it's time
For sharing some tears
And forget in a minute why
The reason they cried

One direction with no turning back
Soon it will turn to black, soon it will turn to black
One direction with no turning back
Soon it will turn to black, soon it will turn to black

Soon you'll find, soon you'll find
Today is just the future of the past
Don't you cry, don't you cry
You are just an accident of stars

Don't you know there's only one way out?
And it comes when it comes
When it's time
For sharing some tears
And forget in a minute why
The reason they cried

One direction with no turning back
Soon it will turn to black, soon it will turn to black
One direction with no turning back
Soon it will turn to black, soon it will turn to black
One direction with no turning back
Soon it will burn to black, soon it will burn to black
One direction with no turning back
Soon it will burn to black, soon it will burn to black

(One direction with no turning back...)

Truly awesome tune.  Another Mr Bill turned me on to.
Steven Wilson rarely disappoints.
I thought that i was listening to Porcupine Tree at first.  Quick Google search explained why.  Not complaining though.  {#Smile}
For fans out there, Steven Wilson is on tour. He'll be at the Fillmore in San Francisco on May 11th.
Nice modern progressive sound!
I've always been amazed by their work — staggering! The view reminds me of the Ritz Carlton lobby on the 54th Floor of Tokyo Tower.

Early Genesis shades into much of Steven Wilson's work. It doesn't feel like heavy borrowing so much as honoring a musical approach he respects, I think. His influences are often there to be heard and I pick up the Genesis often.

And early Yes, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Camel, Talk Talk.  Wilson is also a big fan of Beach Boys, Kate Bush, XTC and many others.  More recently you see ambient electronica influencing Steven Wilson's last two albums, e.g., Boards of Canada.

Actually Blackfield V has just been released!

I see that.  Wilson co-wrote 2 songs.

Yup, never did buy this CD.  Now Steven Wilson has walked away from BF but continues to be just as prolific elsewhere.

When the guitars kicked in, I thought the same thing.  Great stuff!

Almost as if Supertramp got a singer with some balls.

Naw, never was much of a Supertramp fan. Didn't consider them a prog group really.
Steven Wilson is everywhere.
Haven't heard this for a while. Love Blackfield!

I thought it was not too bad, I also liked "Blood" and "On The Plane" off the album too. A little different the past Blacfield, but still good IMHO.
The GREATNESS of Steven Wilson!

+1
Wow!  Thrash metal on RP?  (maybe; work interfered there for a few minutes ...)   Diggin it, brothahs and sistahs!  Este es un siete a la momento.
A little heavier than the usual Blackfield fare.
What is the rest of the CD like?
Sounds kind of Mr. Wilson'ish to me and I love P Tree. I'll listen to more... Just checked and it is Mr. Wilson. Guess that explains it.

I was very disappointed with the new SW band , the only time I can remember leaving a gig early. Far too much Robert Fripp, jazziness and squeaky saxophones for me.

I rather quite like Raven that refused to sing.  That band?  Took a few listens.  Similar to early Yes.  Similar to King Crimson.  Lots of jazz influence.  I kinda think this is his best post-PT solo effort to date.

A great live double CD + DVD from PT Octane Twisted is available now.

Blackfield are good, but No Man leaves ma cold .

Depressing?

NOPE. Blackfield is one of Steven Wilson's alternate incarnation bands / collaborations. (SW is PT's creator and frontman, of course.)

Nice to hear a new (for me) Blackfield album here on RP. Guess I missed it... haven't been watching SW / PT / BF closely enough.

A Porcupine Tree wannabe?

Oh, I see... it IS Porcupine Tree. Well that makes sense, then.

Nothing is wrong with black. That is the whole point: "Don't you cry.... Don't you fight... When your death is calling for a ride."

Yes.  Nice collaboration dontcha think?

I like the latest BF album quite a bit. What I am REALLY looking forward to is SW's new solo album Grace for Drowning (due out Sept 27). The samples I listened to are just fantastic. {#Music}

This one gets a little proggy by BF standards. I like what I am hearing   {#Yes}

Not a big fan.  I love SW and PT, but not BF.

Saw Blackfield a couple weeks' back.  The highlight of the show was when SW came out and did a duo of Even Less with the Dream Theater keybard player/opening act (forgot his name and I'm not going to look it up).

No.  sounds like Blackfield.  Though one voice does sound an awful lot like Steven Wilson.  The plodding, melancholic, synth-saturated chorus is Blackfield, not Porcupine Tree.

I suppose some of the 'production values' are recognizable from PT's work.

Funny how you can say that.  Aviv Geffen wrote the song, not Steven Wilson...

Maybe, but it's Steve Wilson singing it, and his voice is quite distinctive. This does have a very PT sound, IMO. Which is no bad thing. 8 from the Nottingham jury.

Outstanding!
A bit bland and boring...

I have to get their new album.  Sounds great!  I do have tickets to their show in Seattle.  I'm taking my daughter.  Nice father/daughter outing.
Love it...love Blackfield.
After first couple listenings to the album I'm liking it... have tickets to their show in Toronto on May 24th as well.  Should be fun...

Good to see Blackfield back. I find them very 'background listenable' anyway, but the songs usually survive closer inspection too. There's something about them that lacks the worthiness of Porc Tree, which I like about them.

I was looking at this album just this afternoon. I think I'll pop it in the shopping basket and give it a try.

Agreed, agreed, agreed, agreed.  Please report  back after a few airings.

Recognizable and enjoyable ... but I'm not yet certain this is what I expect from Blackfield.  But I'll give it some time ; )

The unmistakable and unique sonic space of Blackfield.

Sweet.

Sounds like porcupine tree
Wow, New material.. knew it was Steve and Aviv instantly...I'll bet this is another Gem of a disc and a nice view too
